Hi guys

im looking to upgrade from my xfx 7870xt. I dont really fancy going for a crossfire set up due to spending alot of my gaming time playing and modding skyrim which doesnt like 2 cards.

I cant afford a 780 so ive been looking at 770s but i dont really know if these perform that much better due to the tahiti card basically being an underclocked 7950.

Any help or advice will be appreciated

Thanks in advance
Devin

I think you could possibly get a 290 from ebay for that but if you want silence I think you could get a Tri-X 280x on amazon or ebay.

ill have a look mate thanks.

what do you think about the 770s? would i get a worthwhile boost for the price?

Well if your budget is £250 you can't really go wrong if you want a 770. Most people will probably recommend something like an ASUS, Gigabyte or MSI.

I have never used any Nvidia products so0 I can't comment on the Palit or EVGA cards but if it was me I would go for an ASUS DCUII. Just my 2 cents.

The GTX 770 will be a better upgrade i wouldn't be buying any secondhand cards from ebay rigth now anless it was ridiculously cheap as its more than a 50/50 chance that card has been destroyed by coin mining.

i never thought of that tbh dude...

yh i think im gonna go 770. amazon have the windforce OC 770 for £246 and i get employee discount on there too so it works out even cheaper :)

Personally I used to run that card, seriously I'd hold off a little longer, I jumped up to a 7970 on the cheap when they were around 250CND and to be honest it was much of an upgrade if I were in your shoes, I'd get a 780 or a R9 290 for an upgrade but again I don't really think its going to be a great upgrade that card is such a beast, I'd suggest waiting for the next flagship cards and picking one of them up. :D
