So you don't think the extra power will give me higher frames?Sorry to say mate but if you are playing at 1080p you would be a fool to buy a 780Ti unless you just want an epeen score. An R9 290/290X/780 Will easily run BF4 on maximum at 1080p at over 80 FPS. If you want to spend the extra £150 for a slightly higher number you won't actually get any benefit from be my guest. I would only advise someone to get a 780Ti if they are running at 2560 x 1440 or above.

The OC version blows it out of the water, with less heat, less wattage, quieter, with extra features... I can only expect fans will cool down the 290x by 10 degrees celsius, then the slightest overclock will fly over that because it's so damn hot!! 290x is already near the maximum threshold that a chip should handle, I don't see much headroom.
1080p is 25% less pixels than 1440p
Sorry to nit pick but 1440p has 3,686,400 pixels total where as 1080P has 2,073,600.
A tad bit more than 25% ^_^
Wow, I didn't realise the difference was that huge, I was under the impression that 1080p was around 2.8 million for some reason....
Even MORE reason why not to get a 780ti for 1080p gaming![]()
To the original poster ( Kroma ),
Since your only running 1080p , decide which brand you want (AMD or Nvidia ),
Then decide how big your wallet is.
For most of us , price is a deciding factor.
If you want the best ( 780ti at the moment ), then pay the price for it.
We'll know more about AMD once they release Mantle , if you want to wait.
and the waiting game goes on forever. if he waits for mantle then he might as well wait for maxwell, and then for the next AMD release and so on.
mantle is a bit overhyped at the moment.
I think how funny it is that people think mantle will only work for AMD... It's an API file!!!
Exactly, Mantle will be exactly like Nvidias "NVAPI" in Battlefield 3, It will give a slight performance boost i.e maybe 10-15 fps for AMD cards but nothing magical.
