7800GFX advice please

Having said that, and all cores/memory are the same...they are still from different wafers/production batches so there will be differences. Just not official.

I can unhappily say that the GT is definately made with loer quality memory than the GTX, and the core, apart from being cut down, cant move as fast. On stock air, anyway.

I have just seen the first non standard gtx around, leadtek, quite expensive though and im not sure if its worth it.

That unit is 100% Nvidia reference - using the reference cooler fromn the Quadro Series http://www.pny.com/products/quadro/fx/4500PciEx.asp also shown on the front page of the Nvdia site (if you are patient enough for the picture to come round).

A swift BIOS flas away from 500/1400 goodness Plus with Riva you can always throttle back to sane speeds/emps once you've finished benching.

On the flip side - you'll need to run with your side window off and a desk fan blowing in - not so much for the CORE or RAM speeds - more for the mosfets (the passive HS on the back of the card).

A have a 120mm fan blowing cool air from the front of the case in between the two cards with the PCI cover removed (the one inbetween the two cards) to blow the hot air out.

@Fatty... what cooling ya got o the cards for those speeds? *slightly envious* I aint really tried yet but your OC on a GT is well ahead of mine (see sig)
