6990 PROBLEMS!

Well i got my Radeon Sapphire 6990 and i am FAR from happy with it. First off the card makes a whining sound when something intense is going on on screen so i already know this card is defective. I cant play ANY of my games in full screen mode as well as benchmarks due to the fact i get flickering like holy hell. Msi aferburner voltage tweak is grayed out even with bios 2, and checking enable voltage control. MSI kombuster wont utilize both GPUs. AND GPU-z 0.5.3 does not detect xfire being enabled.

I have the 11.4 drivers, if anyone knows of any working drivers please tell me.

catalyst 11.4 is a beta (AFAIK)

11.3 is buggy

11.2 is stable

try downloading and installing that 11.2

as for the whining ??? if the 11.2 doesnt work - RMA

and - you just sent a fortune on a gpu - why risk over-volting it?

i just installed 11.2 and its equal crap. The whining i can deal with for now. The reason i want to know about the overvolting is because i was looking at foum posts on other sites with people OCing the sapphire 6990 and they had the overvolt unlocked on msi afterburner.

Also GPU2 does not do anything. it stays at 250core and 150 memory.

Can someone please help! i would like to play at least one game or benchmark with this card!

I think i am nearing to the problem. the screen issues only come up when my FPS goes above 60FPS and Occasiannlay i spot it doing it under 60 but not to often if i turn on vsynk. anyone else getting this?

Sorry for so many posts, but this is important.

The 6990 screws up TERRIBLY when there is more than one monitor plugged in. pretty hilarious considering this is supposed to be the best eyefinity card out there. So i am at one monitor now and all my games run GREAT. both GPUS are working, and IMO the fan is soothing

mine is fine - i would RMA it dude - mine is noisy, but it doesn't whine!!!

as for gpu-z - are you using the latest 0.5.3 version?
