6990 clock issue

My clocks on my 6990 wont stay put? I have the clocks on 975/1400 max temp 52c and for some random ass reason either GPU1 clocks revert to 800/1250 or both do. In 3dmark 2011 the test will run fine for 1 or 2 then at the next test the problem starts. I get no artifacts, just a fps drop, but my voltages dont change. Or i will start up BFBC2 and GPU1 will be at 800/1250?

What are you using to OC the card Afterburner or Over drive in the CCC.

If your using Afterburner you have to have a tick in the box in the overdrive to effect the clocks set in Afterburner.

Open CCC then go to the performance tab and open AMD Overdrive, them place a tick in the box enable AMD Overdrive. The clock set in Afterburner will then be seen on Overdrive. That is how it works for a PC we have that has a Radeon 5870 installed

Thats weird as am sure read an article on thats how you could only get AfterBurner to work from the start with ATI/AMD cards, Ill have alook for the article and post findings.

Does enabling overdrive work?

it may well be that, perhaps tom or others on the forums have had the same issues, I'll watch and see, and hope you solve the issue.

Try dropping the clock a little it might be marginely unstable and trying to preserve itself via clock revertion

i think i got it fixed. I think it was the BIOS, I was using BIOS 1 (the "overclock" bios). So i switched to 2 (which overclocks just fine) and i have not seen that problem come up YET.
