Hey Guys,

Finally got round updating Crysis two to directx 11 and the high res texture pack.

My gpu is struggling big time. Frames are whey down.

Do you think i could get it good on full with the card overclocked or should i just buy another 6950 and crossfire them?

Specs

ASUS CROSSHAIR IV EXTREME

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition (O.C. 4GHz)

Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz

ASUS HD 6950 2GB

Coolermaster HAF X Case

Coolermaster GX 750W PSU

Coolermaster V8

You won't get it much better by overclocking, going crossfire would be the best option even a 590 and 6990 only get around 60 - 80 FPS average.

You are lucky that the DX11 works for you!It is greyed out for me no matter what I try,the high res pack works though.

Mate, do yourself a favour and just give it up.

Why on earth you would want to spend a single penny so you can play the same game before only better looking is a mystery to me.

It won't change the game. If you liked the game then awesome, play through it again or something. I mean, it's far from being ugly (it's actually rather beautiful).

If you didn't like the game before like me then no matter how much perfume you pour over it it'll still be a pig.

There are many rumoured reasons that DX11 was not in it from the start. The main one is probably that the game needs hardware that doesn't exist to run smoothly with all of the DX11 stuff on.

When Bethesda released Fallout 3 they had a HD texture pack that made it look like a completely different game. However, they knew that if they released the game like that it would not be playable to any one with anything less than the top hardware on the market. At that time I had a 280, beaten only by the just released 295 dual pcb. It stuttered pretty badly. Even my 5770 Xfire couldn't manage it.

Even though it looked fabulous I just stuck it out. The game itself made up for it. Now though? well now I have a 470 overclocked and I can run it, but I certainly didn't spend that £200 last October to play Fallout 3 in hi def.

If you are looking to upgrade then sweet, do it for the right reasons. But tbh I would ditch the idea of Crossfire unless you are fully prepared for the headaches that come with it. I would sell what you have and get a 570/80 or something on a single card.

Correct. And both of those will suffer with the problems associated with SLI/Xfire. Xfire is usually the major culprit due to the drivers. SLI is better than ever (given that it's Nvidias bread and butter flagship) but it's still far from being perfect. And if what you say is right about the FPS then it's money down the drain.

Thanks for the replys guys.

Maybe i will sell it up for a 6990.

What i'm thinking is Battlefield 3. To run that on 3x eyefinity is going to require a big system beef up. Crysis 2 wont run on one screen on top settings so i dont see battlefield having much of a chance on my existing 6950.

If i wanted okay graphics i would buy it for my xbox.

I don't think BF3 is going to be as demanding as Crysis 2 the requirements are

Recommended requirements

Hard Drive Space: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU

RAM 4GB

Video Card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, GeForce GTX 460, Radeon Radeon HD 6850

Not sure what card you would need to run eyefinity at a decent frame rate though but i'd guess a 6970 should do.

proof on those specs or are they the same that has been floating around for a while, which DICE have said no to so far.

Ah right,DICE have said that those (which came from Gamestop) are a load of tosh, they haven't decided what the specs are yet.

But tbh I don't think they will be too far off the mark myself.

How at tis stage in the games development have they not decided what the specs are yet? Peole allready have the beta. Ide have it too if i could figure out how to download it as anyone that brought MOH limited edition gets the beta.

Im pretty damn sure they would know what spec your system will have to be to play it by now. After all all games developers learnt their lesson with the Hitman fiasco. after the Voodoo 2 card that was supposed to be the very minimal card to use. Dispite the Voodoo 2 not coming out untill a month later of the game lol.

I bought MoH limited edition and I haven't had my key yet, as far as I know it's still a Alpha and the Beta is due in September.

Just checked my other email account and had this waiting for me.

Nooo, I want it

But I swear they were running it maxed out on GTX580s (Gainwards) at the E3 2011 thingum? So I'm sure it won't be as demanding as Crysis2+DX11+Hi-res

Back to the topic though:

What are your min/max/avgs? And GPU usage...

It might be driver-based, but the nVidia equivalents play the game fine.

I just ran a Benchmark, Adrenaline Crysis 2 Benchmark Tool,

Quality (Ultra), Res (1920x1080), AA (4x), Map (Times Square), Runs (3), API (DX11), Edge AA (Edge Blur), High Res (On).

Min Fps: 11.8 (this was between Run 1 and 2 though)

Average Fps: 54.6

Central Park: Min 6.0, Avg 47.9

Downtown: Min 15.1, Avg 50.8

Times Square: Min 3.2, Avg 54.8

Overclocking a 6950 got me no more than 2-3fps in Unigine, but that's no reason not to overclock both cards if you do crossfire. The more fps the better, 830 on the core should be stable (push it to 840 if you want, but try 830 first)

Best get a single beefy card. Not very familiar with SLI or Crossfire but i've heard there can be some issues.

I play the game on 1920x1080 with a 580, its a gigabyte oc'd version however, with the dx 11 upgrade packs it still runs really really well. Not sure on the FPS though, is there a console command to check it on this game or do i need something like fraps??
