6700k vs 6600k

It did, yes, thanks for rephrasing. It's my hope that prices will come down with a more established stock. I won't move before that. Although the i5-6600K price, at least here, hasn't really went up since release - I checked. It's sitting at 265,90 Euro now, there just isn't any stock. Anyway, thanks for your input; always appreciate it!

No problem!

If you really wanted an i7 6700k, you're probably better off getting on the x99 platform and the 5930k. Just an alternative if you feel the i7 is far to overpriced. Other than that the 6600k is perfectly adequate for your gaming rig:)

Yeah right as rain (about Skylake i7 vs X99)! The price of the former went up here today, and now sits at 399,00 Euro (the 5820K is 402,00 Euro). Mental! The i5-6600K price remained where it was. I actually wanted the i7 however at these prices I should declared beyond saving if I did that. The 6600K will suit me just fine :)

When the time comes I'll make an how to OC my Skylake thread - I am very interested in how to obtain the most stable OC (multiplier only / mix multiplier and BCLK (seemingly the latter according to the review)). I would be dead happy with Tom's 4.75GHz / 4.56GHz (cache) or anywhere near that (I'd be just as happy with 4.5GHz). And I would like to know if you can unlock the RAM from BCLK OC'ing, so to speak, like in the old days where you unlocked the FSB and RAM?

Yeh I can start building as soon as the cpu arrives that should be Friday a nice birthday present to myself although 5 days early :P

There's never anything wrong with an early present! What RAM did you go with? Will you post about the build? I'd be interested in follow-ups.

Edit: did you get your CPU today? The i7 went up I'm price again and has risen far above that of the 6 core, and still it's constantly sold out within hours - I don't get it. The i5 it's price has risen as well, by fifteen Euro. I'll have to be patient for a while longer.

Yeh got it yesterday and I'll be installing it later today with Windows 10,the ram is corsair lpx 16gb 2600hz got one stick of 8gb free with the board and I bought another 8gb.
Also got the hybrid cooler to fit at some point but I may wait till the free upgrade faceplate arrives from EVGA.

Awesome, you must be itching to put it together! Have fun man and let us know how you got on. That LPX is some mean looking RAM! Opting for G.skill TridentZ myself, it looks sleek and it's just good stuff in my experience.

Edit:

Since my system is faulty I have an i5-6600K in the post now along with the other parts in my signature. Went with LPX RAM as well since G.Skill was nowhere to be found. So that's 3GHz CL15 RAM. After warming up the system I'll overclock.

Got a free game voucher with the CPU, debating Fallout 4 or the new AC. :) The former is winning so far.

Edit 2:

Clone, how do you fare with the voltages? See my thread for what I mean.
