660Ti Low FPS?

Hi Guys. So I'm using a MSi 660Ti PE together with a 3570k (stock speeds) and 16GB 1600mhz ram and stuff... The card is great and so are the drivers most of the time unless the crash. I can play Battlefield 3 at Ultra and hit the Vsync at 60fps almost all the time. Sometimes drops to low 50s but never seen it lower than 40. (at 1080p)

The problem occurs when im playing minecraft with the shaders mod. My fps drops to about 13 or 14 at 1080p and only about 30 at 720p. I've seen many other people on youtube getting much more than that (50-60fps at 1080p). I have the latest drivers and everything.

If anyone has any idea of how to fix this if it is possible please let me know. Also feel free to let me know if you are having a similar problem to me :)

Thanks

-Kev

BF3 Benchmarks at Ultra Preset - 1080p (Vsync enabled):
Frames Time (ms) Min Max Avg
38949 657294 42 64 59.257

Minecraft with shaders at 1080p:
Frames Time (ms) Min Max Avg
1194 35116 5 43 34.002

I don't know what happened here but the frames increased a bit. Still not what i would expect from this card though...

Which shaders? Some are very, very unoptimised. I always found that to improve framerate with the shaders, make sure view distance is set to normal+112 as that is effectively far distance minus a few blocks. I'm presuming you've tested it in an area of high vegitation? If I test it in my jungle survival games map at 1080P with my 7870 at stock speeds I get an average of 25fps. I use Chocapic13's shaders for the record.

Framerate is obivously much higher in flat building worlds.

i've used SEUS and RudoPlays Shader. I get similar results with both but the benchmark was with Rudo's.

I benchmarked at my base which is in the middle of an ocean featuring things like mob farms and stuff so i'd say a 'slightly laggy' base ;)

Vegitation is the real killer with shaders. I think it takes about 5-7 fps off :L. what is your average fps without shaders? mine is 110 average and it used to be much higher so I wonder if it is either my i3 slowing down or minecraft has been broken again.

Ah OK Thanks for your help :)

Any shader packs that you would recommend?

Well considering they all have around the same fps, I'd reccomend Chocapic13's shaders (linky) as it has varying levels of quality (e.g.high). Here are some screenshots to show you what they're like. I hit about 35fps-40fps on the high version and around 25-30 on the ultra version. Also, weirdly enough a texture pack improves fps for me with these shaders xD.
