600T w/ Noctua fans everywhere?

Hi, I'm thinking about replacing all the fans in my case with Noctua NF-F12's and having a NF-P12 as the rear exhaust, image below. Considering Noctua fans because I think they kind of go with the Asus Sabertooth motherboards and I am looking at buying the Z77 sabertooth and a 3770K on release.

The two in the front and the two in the middle would be modded in NF-F12s, H100 in the roof with two NF-F12s on it and a NF-P12 on the rear exhaust.

Still not sure about the two in the middle of the case. Might also consider putting a one on the floor below the two in the middle next to the hard drive cages to feed some extra air into them.

Even though Noctua fans tend to be quiet, how loud is 5 or 7 of them? Or would it still be a quiet machine?

The man did say they would be modded in, which shouldn't be impossible to do..

Certainly not although I read it as though he will be modding the 2 pointing towards the graphics card area not the front of the case maybe he wasnt aware that out of the box it only supports a 200 at the front?

@Spargo

Im sure they will be extremely quiet regardless of how many you use but notice the S12's are quieter than the P12's and produce more airflow the F12's are more static pressure orientated and P12's are a bit more all-rounder's but I havnt used any so I can only go by what it says on their website?

Thanks Tom, but I am aware that the front only natively supports 200mm, I have two cheapo 120mm fans in the front right now to see where needs cutting and where to drill some holes.

I suppose you are right, DarthDudo420, I might probably end up just using a mixture of them now, maybe just have an S12 as the rear exhaust, P12s in the front and middle and use some F12s on the H100, so thanks for that. My reason for originally just using F12s everywhere apart from the exhaust was that the air would be directed more to where all the major components are but I don't think it would make any significant difference to the temps inside a closed case thinking about it.

Edit: might just have S12Bs everywhere but the H100 radiator.

Just had a read of this maybe you might find it useful but it doesnt have any S12's reviewed but has the P12 and F12

Judging by their that page on Noctuas website Id agree with S12's but having never used ANY Noctua fan as of yet I really cant comment mate sorry especially considering your after quietness and thats difficult to ascertain especially on a graph

You have been a good help so far without having used the fans yourself. So, thanks for the help, I appreciate it

I've got a small sheet of acrylic laying around near the case and handily enough it only needs a few centimeters off the top to fit in where I want it to, so I'll probably get that done with the holes in for the fans today.

No worries mate!Would you mind taking a few pictures and posting a worklog Im planning a watercooling build in this case so Im very interested to see how the fans fit etc

Also I dont think the h100+fans will fit inside the case you will have to mount them in the roof max space in the roof is about 30mm give or take 5 mm depending on mobo's 8Pin and the h100 is 27mm thick + 25mm fan is far too big...just something to consider

I am in the process of building my rig, it has 1 x noctua S12FLX fan and 4 x noctua P14FLX fans and an NH-D14 cpu cooler, i'm just waiting on the cpu and motherboard to be delivered then i'll fire it up and let you know how quiet it will be

I have got all the u.l.n.a in place mind you, so they will be running at minimal speed but with minimal noise (around 10 dB) so i can only assume that i will not be able to hear them at all in the case! Oh and my case is the fractal design XL, i chose this case for it's looks, space but most importantly because of the noise insulation, however i'll test it with no side panel on

Yeah, thanks for reminding me, when april comes and I get everything in place, I'll see if I can fit the fans in push since it'd be much quieter after doing some testing with fans to see what affects their noise levels the most, putting something like mesh in front of them just made my current fans go crazy loud. I've already done a few minor changes to my 600T so I'll make a worklog on the fan stuff soon enough for you. The 8 pin on the Z77 Sabertooth is right to the left of the board so that might be out of the way for the fans to have space, I'll check tomorrow morning. Z77 Sabertooth

I'd appreciate it, even if I found the fans to be too loud when I get them, the S12Bs go down to something like 6.2dB with the ULNA in the Noctua specs list. So I'll be looking forward to seeing how loud or quiet your build is

Yeh they do go down to 6.2db which is tremendously low noise. The S14B's 'only' go down to 10 dB. It will be a good test because if my rig is quiet, then i'm very sure yours would be (if you run the fans at 6dB).

They usually say a difference of 10dB is about double the noise perceived by the human ear. So a sound perceived to the ear, with something running at 15dB, will sound twice as loud than something running at 5dB.Therefore using that theory, mine running at say 10/11dB would sound ~40% louder than yours running at 6dB

Can't wait to get mine up and running now!

The 10dB and 6.2dB the fans produce must be pretty much if not completely silent with side panels on.

I'll get the mount for the two S12Bs in the middle of mine done sometime this week, hopefully.

I'm hoping to receive my motherboard and processor late this week and should be up and running by the weekend. I'm hoping it'll be absolutely silent, the only limiting factor would be the PSU fan, but i've gone for the Corsair AX850 which doesn't get the fan running till 20% load and then when at 50% load it still only emits 15dB. Could also be a possibility to change this fan as-well if i find it's too loud!

I'm on a quest for silence!

So I couldn't wait last night. I jump started my PSU using the paper clip technique. Took some crude readings with my iPhone app dB meter.

Normal room noise = 33dB

With all fans running = 39dB (30 cm distance)

The results weren't too bad. But I was expecting it to be alot more silent! I then tested one noctua 140mm fan against the fractal design 140mm case fan. The noctua definitely provided alot of air, but the fractal design fan seemed quieter??!! Both were fed 7v. But from the bat I was disappointed. I will do further testing hopefully tonight. I might get a be quiet silent wings 2 case fan to test too (if they are available) I hear it's even more silent!

I'll see if I can get a program on my laptop and use my lapel mic to see how loud my 600T is currently (no Noctua's), All the fans are >23dB right now (noise level on box), should notice a big difference with 6.2dB ULNA S12Bs.

See what's good about the noctuas is that they shift a fair amount of air yet being fairly silent. However I done some research and found there are more silent fans out there! But will have to do more testing. However it is quiet enough as it is. If I get more time then I'll look at other fans such as be quiet silent wings 2, thermalright TY-140, scyth gentle typhoon.
