560ti 2gb sli vs 680

Both would be $500

Both are 2GB

I don't care about sound or power usage

Which do you think I should get?

I am looking to see which one is faster.

All my games support SLi, and the ones that dont a 560ti can easily handle.

I have 2 560Ti s , given the choice between 2 older lower end cards and a new high end card, I would go for the 680 every time.

The 2 Ti s may out pace a 680 under light loads, but will drop off faster as the graphic horsepower is needed.

The 680 will do just as good as the 2 little cards and use less power, hold a more constant frame rate, and if you find yourself needing more power, unlike the 2 ti s, a second and third can be added later.

For me, age is irrelevant, if it's faster than the new tech and the same price why would I not.

I to am a fan of single cards but I am looking to see what config is faster, not what uses less power or gets hotter. Just straight up raw performance. Also I have A TON of OC headroom with dual 560ti hawks 2gb.

680GTX without a doubt because they will only get better over time as drivers for them mature. The 560's may as well but for longevity 680 all the way.

Yea but drivers can only make them so much better. If 560ti 2gb is 15% to 20% faster than a 680 then over time we may see only a 25% MAX in performance from drivers. All then I have to do is OC the S*** out of my 560ti's. I understand the 680 is also overclockable, but to what extent when compared to the 560ti's OCed. I don't plan on getting GPU horse power greater than what one 680 will offer this gen for my machine. So if 2 560ti's will out perform one 680 that is fine for me this generation.

The 680 will just power thru graphic loads that 2 tis won't.

In Crysis 2 a single ti stuggles, you need the second just to play it at reasonable frame rates, any higher than 1080 the tis won't cope well at all.

with 2 tis if you need more power for future games you have to buy new cards, 2 680 will clearly stomp 2 tis face in the mud.

with a 680 if you get a new power hog game or a higher res monitor it won't take the hit in fps the tis will.

the 680 is just a wiser use of the money, unless you plan to play the same old games on an older machine and never upgrade anything on it, but what if your monitor went out tomorrow? would you get the same thing or something better?

My friends single 560ti gets a steady 35FPS through most of crysis 2 at 1080p with HD textures AND DX11 and no OC. So the TI by itself is more than what you are saying. I would imagine 2 would OVERCLOCKED would perform a steady 55fps to 65fps. Also I am referring to the 2gb model.

If you save a good ammount of money, then the 560ti in sli is a good choice. If the cost is almost similar i would get a 680.

I would also get a 680, if for the same price offers either the same performance or greater. But if a 560ti 2gb sli offers more performance, why in the world would I get a 680 IF the only performance I want this gen is nothing greater than a single 680.

I have another rig with a 6990, another with a 580, and another with 560ti already in it. Now I want another rig, with the same or greater performance than a 680, but nothing more.

I have my reasons

There is no money issues, I plan on building another rig later with dual 680s. But I am waiting for the price to drop $50. which may be a few months.

:-)

Well the 560Ti's in sli beats the 680 in some games, and then again the 680 beats the 560's in others. I bet you could get a secong 560ti really cheap so i suport your thinking.

Well I have to buy 2 new 560ti's because the other I have is the 1gb model when I need the 2gb.

Oh ok. If it was me i would get a 680 then. Two 560Ti's with 2gb memory costs 50£ more then a 680 here in norway. Also the drivers for the 680 will be better and the oc potential is lovely.

Have you checked the difference in minimum fps in games? I think the 680 wont dip as mutch as the 560's, since its a stronger gpu.

Here they are both around the same price, My local frys electronics is having a sale and after tax will be $15 Less than a 680, which is fine if the 680 is better. I will have to pay a sales tax which is only $50 but thats the price I pay for having the luxury of picking it myself.

Here are the two cards I am looking at getting (http://www.amazon.co...pd_sim_sbs_pc_4). Both have excellent coolers which will allow for massive overclocks, 2gb of GDDR5 which is equal to that of the 680 so vRAM is no issue. Although I am getting them cheaper than what Amazon is advertising them for.

Ive got that card. Its fantastic. What little i used it before tearing my rig apart due to faulty mobo. Ran bf3 like a steak after a hard day at the offie

I know ya said $$$ isnt an issue so I'd go with the 680 single card and if and when ya need it toss in another one later. to me just makes more sense to go current tech versus slightly older stuff.

oh and while ur at it grab me a pair of 7970's need ones with fullsize DP please

680 SLi would be plain overkill for the rig I plan on using it for. I plan as I said to make another with 2 way Sli and maybe 3 way. But for this rig 1 680 or dual 560ti 2gb would be plenty.
