500r Positive Pressure

Fractal

OK so one of my friends has asked me to move his current 2700K Rig into the Corsair 500R which he has ordered. Also I am going to be adding a Corsair H80 to the rig and have 4x Corsair AF Quiet Edition 120MM Fans and 2x 120MM Corsair SP Quiet Edition fans in it. And I am going to be removing the side Panel fan unless someone can recommend a quiet and Decent replacement for it.

So my questions are as follows...

1) Would this work and be effective for setting up Positive Air Pressure...
(Red Arrows = Exhaust, Blue = Intake)

2) What fan should I but to replace the Side Panel Fan (Or should I just remove it)

3) If I do use the Side Panel fan how would that affect the pressure inside the case.

Positive air pressure only helps keep dust out if the intakes are filtered. Without filters it's not really important.

You want the H80s exhausting out the back really.
Everything else should be fine how it is
But if I am going for positive pressure then I have 3 exhausts and 2 intakes which doesn't work o.0.

Unless I use the side Panel fan as an Intake also I guess but I want to replace it with a Decent side Panel fan.

unless you are running lots of opti drives, use the spare rom in the optibay to mount
a fan in it. the fans in front of the drives should be SP as the AF will hit the substructure
and disperse and be usless afterwards. or relocate the HD and dump the HDD cages.
you want the air-flow from the front to reach the GPU for cooling.

since you are liquid cooled, dump the side panel fan idea and use the window for
show.

You could always try a BitFenix Spectre or Spectre Pro 200mm in the side panel, or replace the 200mm with 2x120mm. DemciFlex make a custom magnetic side-panel filter for the 500R that you can order from FrozenCPU.com in the USA or direct from the company in South Africa.

That would allow you to set up the H80 as exhaust and still have plenty of intake CFM.

Like someone else said if the intakes arnt filtered then maintaining a positive pressure is pointless. Not sure on this case so I cant really comment.

I have 2 front fans on my fractal r3 1 in the back and 1 in the side. They way I maintain a positive pressure is to run my front fans at full whack all the time. It doesnt really matter too much in my case as its pretty much silent.

Also my front fans are the corsair sp ones so they out perform my other 2 at 12 volts anyway.

As regard to your specific rig I cant really comment as I dont know about the h80.

Sorry I cant be more help.
