£500 Small form factor build and reusing GTX 670

Hello,

I am thinking of building a mini-ITX PC for uni. I will be reusing a GTX 670. I want it to be mini-ITX or small form factor so that it doen't take up too much space.

It will be mainly a media and light gaming PC - Stardew valley, Dota, PoE, Warframe. Any suggestions for a build? I don't really know what is good anymore. Last time I built a PC was with a i7 3770k and a GTX 670.

Thanks,

A

If you wanted all new then a good balance with that GPU would probably be around a Ryzen 2600, B450 mITX motherboard and 8GB of DDR4, should end up a tad under £300(You could spend ~£60 more on the CPU for a 3600 with much better single threaded perf. and/or another ~£40 for 16GB RAM though from there) leaving £200 or so for case, power supply, SSD and HDD and a suitable aftermarket cooler if required which should be enough room for the less expensive ITX routes. Some ITX cases nowadays use an SFX PSU and/or a setup that kinda requires an AIO watercooler to reduce footprint, AIO route might end up abit heavier though if you're moving it a lot(But less anxiety inducing than moving something with a tower cooler).

Does the case fit a full length gigabyte windforce card?

What about the airflow of the case? I dont have a blower gpu and thrle gtx 670 does draw a lot of power

As long as its not a 3 slot card it will fit,the panel where the gpu sits has air holes in it.

What about compatible low profile coolers for the Ryzen platform?

The one that comes with it will be fine since the games you are playing wont tax a 6 core cpu at all, but something like a Cryorig C7 or a Noctua NH-L9i will work well.

I just mean for case compatibility, or can you fit a proper stock AMD cooler in it?

Yeah the case has a max CPU cooler height of 65mm while the Wraith Stealth that comes with the 2600 is upto 55mm(Should be a bit less when installed).

I have been looking at the case, and I am not sure if the aifrlow is the best in the CM 120 or 130.

I do want to save as much space as possible, so even a mATX case is not out of the question. I do like the bitfenix prodigy case, but it is rather expensive for what it is. Any thoughts?

Been looking at parts and then I found this deal on AWD IT.

For 500 something pounds I get a brand new GPU with the OS and better overall performance. Is this a good choice? How well known is this website for computer builds?

Thanks for your patience. I am just thinking if there is a big difference between the components that I would be getting if I kept the GTX 670. Im trying to justify the value of reusing a 670.

There's not much point reusing the 670. Not when you can get something that will kick its ass for £100.

It's old hat with old drivers .

The RX 570 is quite a bit faster(probably more like significantly faster) than that 670. You could sell your 670 for a little bit and probably buy a cheap game on sale. Not worth holding onto. It's probably only good for 720p e-sport titles. Card is 7 years old.
