4690K overclock voltage question

Hi everyone, I recently bought an i5 4690K and put it on an MSI Z97M Gaming board with a Noctua NH-D14 for cooling.

I've been messing around with the overclock and managed to achieve 4.5GHz at 1.200 volts.
Stressed this last night with Aida64 for around 2 hours 12 minutes and hit an absolute max temp of 63 degrees C on one of the cores (here's a screenshot of after 30 minutes of testing: http://imgur.com/lm4Iin7 )

I tried to go to 4.6GHz and for can only achieve stable at over 1.270 volts.

Is this normal? It's only 100MHZ more but quite a jump in core voltage.

I am happy with 4.5 and the chip is lovely and fast, I just wanted to see what I could get out of it but I don't feel comfortable going over 1.250v

Thank you and have a nice day :)

4.5 seems to be the limit of your CPU, its completly normal that you will need a significant higher voltage at some point. I would need 1.45V to get my i7 on 4.7ghz instead of 4.6ghz with 1.23 so there are even extremer examples :D

Haswell is a bit of a tricky customer when it comes to maxing out the core speed. If you want to get the best out of it you'll probably have to put in a lot of work messing around with the memory, cache and various related voltages such as the VCCIN.

Chances are that you have found your limit unless you spend a lot of time on it. Your chip seems normal though.
