Ok what am I doing wrong here... downloaded 3DMark2006 1.1.0 (said to be Vista compatible), installed but it won't work!

I just get the splash screen and nothing...

I am running vista ultimate with the latest patches and updates, nvidia 158.45 beta drivers, 3DMark2006 installation contains DirectX9C, OpenAL and C++ runtime. If I skeep the directX9C installation 3DMark does not even start!

Anyone able to run 3DMark2006 in vista ultimate?

PS: Also downloaded the full directX9C from MS, and installed it as recommanded on the Futuremark forums, but it's a no go either!

TIA

You should be running DX10....

Yes I still have the original DX10 installed but if you don't install DX9 3DMark06 does not start at all.

The only thing left is the openAL dirvers, but they said you have to download the full installer only for vista 64 bits.

I really don't know what's wrong... or does the system scan at the splash screen can take more than a minute?

Hmmm I have noticed it take a while sometimes.. perhaps run it as u`r about to go do something else and see if it`s moved on when u get back. Atleast then if u`ve given it tens of minutes u`ll be pretty sure something`s up.

thanks Pyr0, I did try to download openAL from the link earlier but apparently the link is not working, nor I can download the openAL SDK!?

is the download link working for you?

Not your fault mate, thanks for uploading it here... reps to you!

going to try that right away and hope it will solve my problem.
