3DMark06 sub par performance with Q6600/8800GT

Just whacked my shader clock up to 1602MHz.... and it ran fine. I needed to manually change the fan speeds in Xpertool though... it has crashed before on dynamic settings, as it doesn't compensate for the added stress very well...

As you can see, my score still resembles something somewhat rather pants... upping the clocks didn't give a significant gain.

I am running Unreal 3 at 1920 x 1200 with everything up full... but when I get that special kill thingy where you double up your fire rate and the screen goes funny, I get some noticably lower frame rates, i.e. sketchy gameplay:mad: lol

using the berserk?

what screen funnyness? (i need to pickup berserk!!) lol

i just found this about 88gts's

http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=gethowto&number=1&howtopage=188&howtoID=72

just tried

648 core

1512 shader

999 memory and i got 10753 :D

4289 sm2

4632 sm3

3577 cpu :D << god i can't wait to overclock that!

Yup thats it, the beserk! The screen changes colour a bit and your vision changes ingame to reflect the fact that you have just eaten a psycho pill... just drags a bit.

Thats a 780ish increase on the SM3.0 you got going on there! lol, thats insane... ps -cheers for the linkage

see this is odd.. ut3 on full everything doesn't even seem to be hampering my system at all :S altho i haven't picked up a berserk pill.. i think i shall have to go on and test this theory.. by picking one up :S

Hmm not got a GT here atm, but will have soon. I think I'll try to reproduce that problem.

Al have you updated your BIOS ye?

Oh and your right SuB, full shouldn't be too much of a problem

My 8800GT w/ quad runs UT3 on max with 16xCSAA and is still in the 50fps zone, shouldnt be a problem on this card.

My FPS is fine on full UNTIL I get the beserker pill... notice no problems until then...

BIOS is current Kempy.. no.14 is the latest one, and my board came with it.

I'm in training today, so I will have to get back on here this evening... no computer through the day :(

Installing Vista on the same setup as u yesterday, and it stubbled across some blue screen driver fault (that I think I know what the issue is btw) and it suggested I update the BIOS from 14. 14 is the rollout bios in the newer revs and is the latest to my knowledge, outside of beta. Beta13 ones aren`t available anymore I don`t think.

hey Rastalovich... is it worth hunting down some beta bios?? I'd have thought they'd be a bit dodgy??

PS - is there anyone here who can run a stock test with a Q6600 and an 8800GT?

I can't see who the GTS beats it in SM2.0 and 3.0???

Peace ya'll :)

No, no no.

The only time any1 should advise u to update/flash a bios is if ur having a problem that they know for sure is covered in the particular bios revision.

This could be cos the motherboard doesn`t recognize a processor correctly cos it`s new or similar. And for the record u`r motherboard and processor are ideally matched, even with the older bios versions.

Beta drivers are used by people who love to live `on the edge` and feel that whatever happens they will be able to get themselves out of the sheet if something goes pear shaped. Similar peoples will flash their bios to the latest versions just out of interest. Some people however don`t have any choice cos of sort of issue regarding the previous paragraph.

O o Kemp implies u may`ve overlooked something >.<

murdering why? lol did i miss something

my gts is only scoring so high because i overclocked it :P

cpu is next in the firing line

btw kemp my uguru doesn't run :(

i installed it and stuff but when trying to run it it comes up saying hardware monitoring not supported by this something or other :(

:0wned:

After much deliberation, I decided to RTFM... yup, thats all I needed to do...

In a Rolf Harris voice.... "Can y' guess what it is yet???"

Had my 8800GT in the PCI-E2 slot... running at only 4x throughput... DOH!

Stuck it in the PCI-E1 slot (16x), and then got the above...

Ho hum, that really was 'back to basics'... I didn't know it mattered, and TBH, I put it together in such a rush that I stuck it in the first available slot, not really even noticing that I had another one lol

SO... my Scythe is here tomorrow, I'll OC that right up, stick my clocks up something chronic, and then report back after another test...

A big thanks to all those who helped me out... I was going mad hehe...

Also, please feel free to take a ticket, and get in the queue to slap me silly

:p
