3d Monitor & Nvidia 3d Kit

thnx for ur support.

now finally its clear that Q6600 will not be suitable for 3D

so can i replace my Q6600 CPU with:

INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q9400 2.66GHZ (6MB CACHE - 1333MHZ FSB)

and is it working on Asus P5Q mobo

and same time can i change my RAM DDR2 to DDR3 with new CPU but on same mobo (Asus P5Q)

and can I replace my 8800GT to:

GTX470 GeForce PCX 1280MB (320-BITS) DDR5 EVGA

so final configuration will be:

Mobo: Asus P5Q

PSU: Thermaltake 750Watt

CPU: INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q9400 2.66GHZ (6MB CACHE - 1333MHZ FSB)

GPU: GTX470 GeForce PCX 1280MB (320-BITS) DDR5 EVGA

RAM: DDR3 (4GB) (((help me what brand and bus speed is auitable for this config now - if not P5Q then what mobo to replace)))

and after that, is it ready for 3D ???

thanks again.

Theres not much difference between the Q6600 and the Q9400 dude?

And the 470 wont give you very good frame rates with 3D sadly, especially when you turn up the details and have a high screen resolution.

3d will make a game run at less than half of what it would on the same system in 2D mode.

You basically need i7 and a 480 to even consider it imho. All or nothing.

Absolutely agree with Tom. When checking out a card to do 3D you pretty much have to take 40% of the tested frame-rate and that will be your 3D frame-rate.

Considering that you need a monitor, glasses, beastly graphics card and, in your case, CPU RAM and mobo, it's definitely not something you should be aiming for yet.

To be honest just upgrading your CPU/Graphics card will give you enough extra eye candy you'll feel more "in the game".

3D is great, but it's bonkers expensive if you haven't got the hardware in place already.

Even if you do go for 3D, there's no guarantee that this technology will stay in place for that long. In my opinion, you would be better off spending £200-£300 on a 24" 1920*1080 monitor, possibly an IPS panel instead of the 3D monitors, whose image quality isn't the best.
