Good evening everyone!
I finally have the finances to build my new PC! After Easter i want to buy the definitely set parts and replace my notebook which served me for good 4 years.
I'd like some advice from the seniors what parts i should buy and which to avoid. I wish to own a powerful gaming pc that's quiet and reliable. My budget is 4000chf (Schokiland money) and the listet hardware below summs up to 3800chf. ^_^
This is my current list of parts and why i chose them (i know that there are people that like to know the reason behind a choice):
- Core i7 6700K (pretested @4.7GHz + delided)
Caseking sells pretested CPU and offer deliding and the choice of the new TIM (All with warranty!). This CPU is currently the best choice if i want peak performance and the deliding service will help to keep the system cool and quiet! I also plan to OC to around 4.5GHz, or whatever clock i can get without hurting the CPU to much.
- Asus Maximus VIII Ranger
I think this is a well balanced board with nice features, a good I/O and a ok price. It also will offer me the option for expansion card and maybe DX12-SLIFIRE in the feature.
- Corsair Vengeace LPX 2x8GB 3200MHz CL15
I got told that Skylake and fast memory deliver nice performance. This kit also coast just 10 (or so) CHF more than the 2133MHz kit so...
- Seasonic Platinum 860W
When i want to know how a PSU performs i usually go to JonnyGuru, and the Seasonic Platinum series got an excellent rating. I chose 860W for future expansion of the system, be it Multi GPU or 3874 HDDs.
- Samsung 850 Evo 2000GB
SSD good. Much space good. No HDD in the system good (NAS).
- MSI GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6G
I know, Pascal and Polaris are around the corner but i needed a card to fill this spot till they arrive. I hope that AMD and Nvidia will announce release and specs soon. I would consider leaving the GPU out if the release is close by. I chose the MSI one for reasons: It's one of the more affordable, it's one of the quietest, one of the coolest and it has OC headroom.
- Noctua NH-D15
I don't care about the colouring since the system will be behind solid side panels. The NH-D15 is easy to mount, amongst the best air coolers and delivers on quality.
- Fractal Design R5 Black + 1X NF-A14 FLX
Somewhat a go to case if i wish for good cooling and quiet operating. I considered the H440 (Solid side panel), and some Phanteks cases but the R5 is just to well priced and delivers a good out of the box experience. I build a system in this case already and i didn't get killed by that guy so it should be good. The FLX is there to get the extra air in from the free 140mm spot in the front.
- Elgato Game Capture HD 60 Pro
I love playing on my WiiU and tend to play more often on my consoles. I will buy a PS4 sometimes in the feature and would like to have the console audio on the same channel as my friends (Skype~) without them hearing the game trough my mic. Reading reviews of this capture card i believe it's the best choice for me intended use, since there is no delay like on USB cards.
- Asus PG279Q (1440p, 165Hz, IPS, G-Synch)
I want the G-Synch experience! I'm tired of tearing and it throws me of while playing focused. I noticed tearing especially in GW2, Rocket League and MGS5 (the games i'm playing the most currently). I believe this is the best monitor available at the moment for Nvidia cards. I would go for the Eizo one with AdaptiveSynch if i chose to go Polaris.
- TIM and Cleaning: Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut and Arctic Silver ArcticClean
The TIM is supposed to be very good and the cleaning stuff cleans... yeah.
- Windows 10 Pro 64Bit
I don't want to give up on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit license, so i will just buy a Windows 10 Pro license. I know that Windows 10 has it's problems with all the hidden cuddling with its daddy but there are tools to prevent some cuddling and they hopefully will stand to the promise and remove the cuddling in the feature.
- Things that may be in the PC:
Since the R5 has ODD bays i will throw my old ODD in there for the Windows installation. If it works i'd like to buy a NZXT IU01 to throw wireless dongles like the xbox one brick in the case and not have them stick 2 meters out of my pc...
I'm always open for critique and like constructive discussions to brighten my horizon. If someone knows of better parts from which i can profit more just say it and i shall consider it. :beer:opcorn:
A note regarding SSD and CPU: I know that the 6600K is a nice GPU, but i really want that peak performance and the HT. I believe it will be the better CPU for feature gaming.
