Dear friends,

I’m planning to buy Samsung 2233RZ with Nvidia 3D kit but since I never got any chance to watch any 3D movie or game – I would like all of you to help me to understand about this technology.

Is it a right choice to go for 3D monitor or shall I buy a normal LCD 22” monitor.

Mostly I’m playing games and watching movies.

Sys Spec are CPU is Q6600 mobo Asus P5Q with Nvidia 8800GT 4GB RAM

Thanks.

i would just buy a decent 22'' monitor fella,i think the 3d thing is just a gimmick.

there is better tech regarding that coming out soon

just get a normal monitor, the 3d stuff destroys frame rates pretty bad even on the later cards from what ive seen, an 8800 would get killed on anything but low settings

If you have a compatable Nvidia GPU and supporting monitor ANY GAME can be played in 3D.....

I recently took VonBlade to a 3D event Nvidia held and we both looked at each other in shock, as tbh peeps. its faffing EPIC.

Almost positive the 8800GT doesnt support 3d though fella, if it does is deffo not got the grunt behind it to be rendering everything twice for 3d.

Im not sure if its something only supported with the 400 series? I dont think the earlier cards have enough poke to keep the FPS up anyways.

is it not just a driver relese that enables it for cards but i wouldent use it for anything less that a gtx 260 (216)

ok

then i'm going to upgrade my RAM from 4GB DDR2 to 8GB DDR3

regarding GPU - i was checking few graph here:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/2977/n...th-the-wait-/9

and little bit confused where to go now.

rest of my PSU is already 750WATT and i think i don't have to upgrade it for 3D

coming to the 3D monitors - again i'm not sure about samsung vs acer - what i can understand, samsung is good in lcd screens but still i'll listen to u guys before taking any final decision.

so far its confirm that:

- i need to upgrade RAM

- GPU to be upgraded but what should i buy? GTX 470 or 480 or 270 or 275 or 280 etc

- 3D monitor is big question, then

thanks for your help and i'm sure i'll get my reply shortly.

(since crysis 2 might be using 3D tech, i'd like to upgrade my spec for it before it hit the shelfs)

thanx

dude you can not just change from ddr2 to ddr3 its not the same. To change to DDR3 that means a new motherboard.

If you want to game in 3d then tbh mate its a 480 min for anything decent long term.

Monitor wise Id wait a bit as Ive seen an upcoming Asus monitor and tbh in 2d and 3d its the best Ive EVER seen.

oooo is that abit of goss on the asus monitors?

ile make the 3d transition when i have a 60'' TV and i dont have to sit in my living room with Johny 5 glassess on

I would imagine you will find this useful. The 8800GT is supported but prepare for headaches.

Yeah, I've played a few games in 3D. They are very very cool but I don't think I'd use it as a full time replacement as it's not quite as easy.

If it's anything like these new LED 3D TV's and movies it's definitely not worth it. Best Buy had a Series 9 Samsung setup with a 3D movie and I asked for the glasses and I honestly couldn't see the 3d popping it, it was just the same multi-color blur through the glasses. I was thoroughly unimpressed. However, the Samsung Series 9 was so epic I almost crapped myself, best looking picture of any TV, bar none!!!

Regarding RAM upgrade, i'm using Asus P5Q motherboard and RAM is DDR2 - you think its not possibile to move fom DDR2 to DDR3 on this board?

I'm not regular gamer - but interested in very few of old/lastest games, like:

MOH COD GTA & Crysis

I think i really need a advance GPU and for that I'm planning to go for nVidia 470 bcoz 480 is little bit out of range.

i'll be getting it (470) soon and will buy 3D kit & LCD 3D monitor when Crysis 2 is about to release.

thanks for ur help.

You cant just fit DDR3 to a DDR2 board no mate.

a single 470 will not run 3d games very well matey

then i have to start saving from today :(

required ddr3 - need new mobo

required 3d - need new cpu + psu + gpu

time to give-up:(

Aww I'm planing on sometime in the future going 3D so I've purchased a compatible monitor. Am deffo gonna get a second GPU once I buy the Nvidia emitter kit, so in theory each card only renders one frame making it much less stressful on the system. Does look good in my opinion, especially as it works for almost anything.
