3570k or an AMD alternative?

So you've got £300 to spend on the components, £175 of which is taken by the 3570k. Which leaves you with £125 for the mobo and RAM.

Yea that bundle looks good actually. The CPU cooler is half decent too and should get you a decent enough overclock (mid 4s I'd imagine on Ivy)

hmm... theres two things about this that i don't like:

A) Its from a website that i don't know very well so i'd prefer not to buy off of it.

B) The heatsink isn't very good and i'd like to get a better one, i'd like to start OC'ing asap so... yeah

You can get the same mobo on scan with the corsair vengeance ram and its £120, i could then add a slightly better heatsink on to that and that should be fine, right? Also, me pc case has only got about 15 cm of room (Width). And decent heatsinks that will fit?

I think that pretty much everyone from this forum can vouch for Aria - it's a great site to buy parts from and their return service is great. Remember that you can sell the heatsink to help offset the cost, and buy something like a 'D14 or a Havik 140. You can get to around 4.2GHz without changing the volts - i'm confident that the cooler supplied in that bundle could get you to 4.4GHz. My 'D14 can only really handle 4.5GHz on my chip, although I do have everything running comletely silently.
Up to you though, dude - it's your money.
I think, although I could be mistaken, that you should be fine for room. What is your case?

Its a CiT Saturn, its a shit case but when i bought it i was a noob and didn't really know anything about computers so its shit. There is about 15cm between the mobo tray and the side fan, i could remove the side fan i guess to get 17cm room. I'd rather not buy the noctua, i know its amazing but it's quite expensive. Anything cheaper with decent performance?

Er, I'm on my phone right now, so I can't look the prices up, but off the top of my head; Bitfenix Spectre Pros, Gentle Typhoons, Enermax Clusters, Corsair AF series...all I can think of at the moment.

urm, i must have said fans not heatsink oops, any cheaper heatsinks that the D14 that still perform well?

Ah no, it was my mistake, really.
NZXT Havik 140, Thermalrite Silver Arrow...and then my mind goes blank. Check out the written review of the Havik 140 - it will have temperature graphs which shall show you what's up to par.

What about a graphics card? are you going to be getting a new one?

Yes, later on, this current one is ok, aparently. I haven't had a chance to test it out because the CPU is bottlenecking my graphics card. Shows how bad my CPU is. I only really play minecraft at the moment and dirt 3 i get an average of about 13 FPS on ultra-low so... :/

I will probubly be getting a 7850 (in a year or so). Well, my budget is £200 so i will get whatever i can for that money when the time comes ;)

lol in a year there will probably be amd 8series knocking on the doors, so 7 series should get notched down a price band (hopefully)

They are all very similarly priced, because my current build is a pile of shit inside, i won't worry about the aesthetics too much, so I'll go for the D14 when i have some spare cash. as the NZXT doesn't seem so good, although it looks amazing. After this, as i have stated i will upgrade my graphics card, then i will probubly upgrade the case. (probably to a full tower case of some sort) Any recommendations for a full tower, good looking case, price, under £150? Window is one feature i would like and a fair bit of water cooling options.

Yeah they should be out by then, It all depends what's around at the time and what money i have knocking about ;)

There's also the shadow rock series which are good but with an i7 you are always going to be limited to about 4.5 on air because of the extra volts you need to put through it.

Aria is a very reliable website but that scan sale on the GD45 is good too.

Well, i hope the mobo sale holds out for a while because i have to wait for the bank to process my money! xD

I'm posting this here 'cause i know you guys are awesome and helpful. Anyway, my disc drive just broke so i need a new one, any suggestions for a cheap dvd-reader/writer?
