I want to know which would be better. I want a computer for multi-tasking, web-browsing, and gaming and i want to know which would be better getting a pc with vista 32 bit or vista with 64 bit?

thanks

For compatability and being able to run evry program you need, 32bit.

For the ability to have loads of RAM and some future-proofing 64bit :)

Vista 64. 64bit will be the new standard until 128bit comes along. Also, get Vista opposed to XP. Its the way forward. It may not be quite as stable as XP64 ATM, but it isnt that bad either and is always improving.

64bit. I`ll be a pensioner by the time 128bit is standard.

I wouldn't worry Rast, they would have developed something to stop aging.. then you/I/a lot of people will be able to have a good play with 128bit. :D

64bit all the way

Pretty much all 32bit programs run anyway

Im on XP 64bit until Vista is the XP we know and love xD

Mind you i may try server 2k8 seeing as though its all Tox talks about :p

Well, I have always liked the Windows Server OSs and now 2008 is out.. I may try. If it isn't all that good (Jim says it is pretty nice) I will move back to good old 2k3. :)

haha

x64 XP is up your street i reckon

good thing is it doesnt require any major tweaking to get max performance

Well, I am running 64bit Server 2003 now. :)

I am totally in love with it.

Fast and smooooth.

Tox has boners for server 03/08...

I haven't had one single driver/programme issue with Vista 64bit so grab yo bad self 4gb and get on it!

64 bit for all the reasons listed above and a few more of the less obvious ones. Basically it does everything as well as 32bit and a few significant things better. If you're one for hardware performance you well definitely notice those few things. As for an operating system, that's your choice. Keep in mind they are coming out with Windows 7 in 2009 though, so you may want to wait.

Can't argue with Toxcity over 2003 64 concerning smooth and speed. One word of caution is drivers for 64bit server editions. It's not clear yet for 2008 as still early days but Canon don't offer anything for my MP500 on 2003/64. I have to dual boot to print!

If you're going over 3GB RAM, definitely get 64bit and if using Vista go for 4GB+. Both XP & Vista 64bit have decent driver support but MS are more likely to support Vista and server 2008 better than XP 64 at least until until Win09. Take care if going XP 64bit that you're not unknowingly using server 2003/64. It has more compatability issues in my experience unless Toxcity can point us in the right direction.

Good man! ;)

I wish I was still on it, but SLI isn't supported on Windows Server anymore.. so back to XP I go! :(
