3.5mm splitter

Hey guys and gals!

I'm looking for a 3.5mm splitter so I don't have to switch my speaker cable between my pc and xbox 360.

I'm using a VGA cable for the 360 which has a 3.5mm output for the sound.

Looking for a cable/switch that will allow me to swap between the sound on the pc and 360 without having to swap the cables around.

What you are referring to is an audio mixer. You can find some on amazon for under $30.

After you get the mixer you will need some converters to turn the red/white out into a 3.5mm jack. What you are talking about doing is not a extremely cheap thing to do. It will cost you roughly $50 for everything.

one of these?

they are only about £5

then you would just require two male-male audio jacked leads

about £3 each

I was also thinking that until he said switch between them. If he id not care about that convenient method then you are correct and he should use one of those.

If you are sitting away from them, then why not just buy two long headphone extension cables, and then when you want to connect, pick up the appropriate lead from next to your sofa or whatever, and plug in your headphones.

Using a Y Splitter is not always the best thing you can lose audio quality and loss of signal strength. But in your case you will get feedback from both devices if you pause your game on the xbox and play music/sound on the PC you will get feedback to your speakers from both devices.

Personally I would have just brought a RCA switch for about $5 and a 3.5 to RCA cable for about $3

you would also have been able to add a 3rd device to.

a slitter will degrade quality but not much to hear any difference. just like a long AUX cable degrades quality. although what ygg suggested could severely drop quality. If you want to experience almost 0 loss, you would need to get a mixer.

wouldn't the equipment ygg posted be pretty on the fly also? just not 100% perfect quality. though to a non audiophiles ears like mine would probbably be fine right? and a full 40$+ cheaper.

if we were to go the higher quality route do you have a link to the right equipment king?

And with the mixamp you would just turn on/up whichever channel you were wanting to use?

The input being the main line then the other four being the other lines, ie: televesion - speakers, etc

yea. That mixer i linked will accept up to 4 inputs and one output, that one output being the speakers. from the looks of it there really is no off switch, just turning down the volume all the way and turning up the one you want.
