Hi guys, I just ordered a Cosmos 2 case  and a GTX 660 Ti. I've got a bit of money left so I decided to get two 120mm fans to put on the side panel over the GPU. Now the thing is, I don't yet know how the front panel works; I'm assuming they provide the cables required to hook up the GPU fans and can thereafter be controlled with the front panel. I'm wondering if I would still be able to open the door fully (and not have to disconnect the fans each time I want to make adjustments). I'm going with a blue colour scheme and would preferably want LED fans. Would it be easy to hook up the LEDs and be able to control the speeds/lights with the front panel? Which fans should I buy?

EDIT: 100th post!

From what I've seen, the fan cables run over the inside of the side panel towards the front. This would mean that you can open it without unplugging the fans, since the side panel actually works like a door

okay thanks, that's what i thought ;)

Speed, yes. Light, no.

The fan only has one 3 pin cable, meaning that once it gets power, it lights up. There is no special cable for just the light so it's either fan on, light on or fan off, light off.

damn, is there any cable that i can buy to "split up" the lights and power?

Don't think so tbh, can't think of any fan that comes with that either :(

Though, to be fair, if you have a good front panel intake, you don't really need those extra fans in your side panel. If you really want them, but don't want them lit up 24/7 I'd just go with black ones if I were you

by black ones, do you mean plain ones without LED? I was thinking that if I wanted to turn them off, I could just literally turn them off with the front panel

Yeah, that's what I meant. Though you could literally turn off the LED ones as well :p

Do keep in mind that when you use the fan controller to turn them down, it will turn ALL the connected fans down. I'm assuming that includes the ones that come with the case

ye i think they've got separate buttons on the top. like a gpu button which would control the fans hooked up the the gpu connectros

u want to be able to control the fan led lights seperately from the fan speed? that's not possible unless u r able to mod it like that.

these leds are ~3V. I haven't really looked in that but as far as I know if these leds are connected each other in a row and parallely with the fan then 3+3+3+3V=12Volts meaning if u lower the voltage using a fan controller then the leds will be powered with less voltage too => less light.
If the leds are connected each other parallely then there must be a voltage drop (from 12 to 3V) through the circuit .

so the cosmos 2 has three speed settings on the fan controller. if i turn it down to the lowest setting, the LEDs will be really dim?

okay so do you know of any good 120mm fans that maybe have a light controller that you can put into a pci slot or something?

Wait, dont bitfenix spectre 120s have something separate to do with controlling LEDs?
Don't remember exactly what, but I remember reading something, somewhere :P
Might be worth a google ~

Jus checked, the LEDs can be controlled via Hyrda fan Controller, or a survivor chasis... Or via ''jumper-selectable on/off''.
If you care about it that much, could be an idea to get a hydra fan controller and have all your fans connected to it, it's the only thing I could think of...
Good luck ~
