2TB storage drive

hey everyone,

I got a bit of a problem, my current Western Digital Caviar Black hard drive is making some humming noises that i never use to hear before and its also getting very slow at time, so slow that everything freezes if you click on a few folders quickly. It works fine at times but when the freezing and slowness happens it gets very frustrating.

Ive had the drive for three years, these issues are starting to worry me now. I do have a back of m important data but things like movies and music i do not.

I'm not feeling a Western Digital hard drive this time around because of whats happening to mine and also what Ive read about others experience on here and among my college mates.

So as soon as i get a few recommendations from here on oc3d, I'll get a new drive

Caviar Blacks have a 5 year warranty. I've had 4 1TB black drives running in my server 24/7 for over 2 years. You sure it just doesn't need a good defrag?

That's the thing, i did a defrag a few weeks ago and ever since that, it has been slow. like when i switch on my pc to watch a movie, i access the Data drive and it takes a about half a minute to a full minute to load, at times it even freezes. The arm sumtimes makes a clicking noise now and again.

If its starting to make funny noises then I would definitely run the wd drive util mentioned above. If it fails you should be good for a return...
