2GB Ballistix Z503 @288MHz memtest stable

Just wanted to give a thumbs up to this new Cricial Ballistix 2 x 1GB Z503 RAM I just bought. On the DFI Ultra-D this pair are memtest 5 and 8 error free for about 5 hours at 288Mhz 3-3-3-8 @2.8v at which point I stopped the test. I was only expecting 250 - 260 so a nice surprise for a 2GB kit to climb so high:)

I tried 289 and 290 and started getting a few memtest errors so gave up on that till I read more how to burn in RAM properly

I recently had my BH5 replaced with some 2*1G crucial sticks, they were jsut the normal stuff but had micron 5b chips i think. Anyway i tested them and was quite impressed, they went to 250 at 3,3,3,10 with about 2.8v error free memtest on a NF3 DFI.

Im looking to buy a pair of ballistix soon as they seem to gain higher clokcs.

PS gratz on clocks btw :)

Impressive clocks my friend,

What would the tightest setting your can use at 272HTT and 252HTT?

Those are the two highest settings for my CPU at x13 and x14 - so those would be the two results I would be really interested in.

Also to see which out the above two settings perform best for you (in benchies)

Cheers

So far just set the same ballpark BIOS settings others have used who have posted and kept inching forward. I haven't seen any other posts at anything tighter than 3-3-3-8-1T for the 2GB pair, but there seems a lot of options in the DFI bios to work thru:eek:

Will drop the HTT to 272 and 252 and let u know about timings and bench results soon-ish Mav

The Z503s have the gold/yellow heat spreaders and the tracer L503s have the black spreaders and LEDs. I think they have the same PCBs and chips and it is only the LEDs that separate them. Wasn't sure how much heat LEDs put out so I played safe and also my RAM is hidden behind a fan anyhow

is the Z503 set the normal yellow heat spreader or the tracer verison with black heat spreaders?
