Hey everyone,

I have been looking at 27" freesync monitors for awhile and well the only 2 that I know of are the ACER XG270HU and BENQ XL2730Z. Has anyone had the pleasure of playing on these or own them, if so would you recommend them?

My plan is to buy a AMD 3xx series card and will start playing my games at the 1440p res but I would also like it to have freesync suppprt. Are these the only 2 out there right now or do we expect more this summer?

Another thought, are there any 4k monitors that run at 60hz but when you drop the res to 1440 it will raise the refresh rate to at least 90 but more preferably 120 or more? Not sure but are the panels that flexible when it comes to refresh rate?

regarding the benq and the acer you mentioned - they are both tn panels. Is there a reason you absolutely want TN film panels?
the reason I ask is because the benq you mentioned especially is on the same price segment as the Asus Mg279q - which is 144hz IPS panel.
the one thing you get from these TN panels is a response time boost of around 3 ms compared to the IPS panel on the Asus Mg279q (I believe the Benq is like 2 ms and this Asus IPS is around 5 ms). Can you notice this extra 3 ms?

Do consider that I havent played on both the monitors you mentioned though I've seen them on display. So I'm just going by what I've read in the reviews.

Regarding your 4k question - nope.. I havent heard of a monitor that can do that yet, but It does make perfect sense so I expect such an item to be available to buy soon.

Also, I would guess that the 3*** series of cards will also encourage the announcement of more freesync monitors. One reason there is a slight shortage of freesync monitors despite its freeness is the ever reducing market share of AMD. When display manufacturers see that AMD is picking up market share, they'll announce more freesync monitors. There's like a whole month to go anyway.

from what you are looking at, I would strongly recommend to consider the Asus Mg279q. TFT central has a review coming up on this monitor in a few days.

I was just going to be getting a TN panel for the more responsive refresh. Not say that I would notice it, my plan is also later down the road to pick up a 4k monitor and that will be an ips or ahva panel. But if I can find a monitor and it is IPS with a decent refresh like the ASUS Mg279Q I might just buy it and get a 4k monitor even later.

Whatever monitor I decide to get it will have to have blur reduction and I am tired of seeing the flickering...

I will start looking into the Asus MG279Q. I had not heard of that monitor so thanks!

Just an update - the Mg279q review is up on TFTCentral. They liked it and didnt even feel that the 35-90hz freesync limitation was a problem.
Only thing to note is that this monitor has class 2 input lag till about 90hz refresh rate. I'm not sure I like that part because you're going to try to keep it at 90hz for the freesync.

I still think Freesync 1440p monitors are a mixed bag right now with the MG279q IPS 144hz and all that but with freesync only availavle till 90hz.
On the other hand the Benq XL2730Z has freesync support all the way to 144hz but is TN - (Although I need to mention that the panel on this one is the only other TN panel worth even looking at apart from the Rog swift (both are 8 bit and most premium).)

@TTL It would be great if you can do a video review on the benq XL2730Z with a conclusion comparison with the Asus Rog swift. Apples to apples there :)
