2500K to 6800K?

So its time for an upgrade again. Last time i upgraded it was for a gaming system, however i haven't played a game now in years. Instead 90% of my computer time is used for Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. The old 2500K @4.3 has served me well, but i think its time to let it retire. Looking for a little advice on this, Will the 6 core hyper threaded cpu give me much performance increase when working in Photoshop? or does adobe prefer clock speed? Currently using 2500L, 16GB 1600 ddr3, lots of SSD's in RAID 0, GTX 760 (2GB).

Wait for Ryzen to be annouced from AMD. It should be all over the news tomorrow with the reveal. Unless i am mistaken and it's supposed to be later this week... but either way, definitely wait. From what we seen, the top end Ryzen chip is as good as Intel's 6900k but will cost much much less. So even if it is not what you are looking for, it should bring prices down. Which is a plus for you.

I where in front of same destinations. I took 6500K because mostly I play games on my rig. And as far I'm concerned, games I play can't utilise more then 2cores and that wise i5 and i7 are relatively close by single core performance. Was lucky enough to get silicone which can rock 4.8Ghz with 1.3255V. Correct me if I come wrong

Wait for Ryzen. It's really not a good time to buy a CPU, especially an expensive one !
the 6800K is a good cpu but if AMD really have a great performer at a good price (which I hope they do) it'll shake up the cpu market nicely.
