2500k folding problem ?i put my 2500k on to fold all last night got up this morning to find not one work unit was given any ppd ?

I don't think it's directly related.

It could be that the CPU to create the base score has changed and so is effecing our scores.

The base score hasn't gone up very much but the time to complete the units has by loads. So we are missing alot of bonus points.

Yep, I should have a 40K average as I'm folding 24/7 and because of these large WU's I'm essentially losing 10K points. You're obviously losing a lot more looking at your points on extreme overclocking.

Yeah I am losing loads. These larger units are not i7 friendly at all. I should be getting at least 25k doing standard SMP units on the i7 but at times the V7 client shows as low as 13.5k.

I'm starting to wonder if I should try running 8 none SMP clients for a bit.

The hit going from bigadv to smp was bad enough. This is just awful.

Just want to thank all the guys who have answered my call for help to get folding sorted especial KUP who's ears have been getting bent out of shape on facebook thx bud .

I just pulled out the calculator and conservatively realistic numbers say I should have 52k - 54k PPD

@OC3D_ZAN76

Getting folding sorted is 4 times out of 5 straight forward. But when it wants to act up, it can be a real brain twister.

Thats why is great to be part of such a helpful community. The only problem I had that I couldn't solve myself, turned out to be unsolvable. But it was only thanks to the guys here that I could finally put my mind to rest on the matter.

Any help needed, just ask. And that goes for everyone!

If you guys are on v7 client the 80xx WU's have been re-adjusted and lost about 55% of their former PPD

ATM my GPUs are on v7 and CPUs are running the console client.

Even on the console client my PPD on the CPU was awful and on the V7 client I have been getting 7610 WUs and they are terrible for PPD too.

Stopped folding on my main rig just use to much if i got more points for it i might so just the second rig folding so if was going to build a a rig for folding what would you guys advise.

also what is -advmethods

The focus for a folding rig should be intel + nVidia. Unless you don't intend to do any CPU folding.

I picked up a cheap HP XW6400 as a folding rig. The cpu(s) arn't great but it has two 16x PCI-E slots (one is true 16x the other is only 4x but that doesn't matter for folding). I loaded this rig with a nVidia GTX 460 but if you're looking to buy cheap 550 Ti does pretty good PPD.

As for -advmethods

It's an option that can be enabled and this means you are willing to accept experimental work units that may not be stable, but they offer a lightly better PPD.

With Fermi GPUs, the work units you get when using -advmethods have a lighter load on the CPU so folding on the GPU doesn't take away as much PPD vs standard work units.

My PPD is horrible now. Only 83k last night when a few weeks ago I hit as high as 130k with the same hardware. I've updated to the v7 client on my home PC, but PPD is all over the place. Sometimes as low as 2k for an i7 @ 4GHz or about the same on one of my 470's. I've triple checked all my configs and everything is looking right, but PPD blows.

ah right might stick the -advmethods on and see what i get.

my second rig all ready has 550ti, i should really refer to it a folding rig now. so yea other than that the rest of the rig is crap g840 1155 cpu and a msi board which is crap can only get on Gpu on it . so i will have to change the CPU and the board .

The G840 while not the best CPU in the world I would have thought should put out about 3000 PPD.

The 550Ti should be good for about 9000 PPD.

Nice little folding rig!

Yea i agree but at the time i was only thinking about a media rig . yea with the 550ti am getting about 9500ppd

going to have to get some more hardware some were at bargain.

I quit using v7 on the cpu's and went back to the old console client, but I did leave the GPU's on v7.

Yeah Stanfords great WU allocation managed to drag my stuff down to 159K yesterday, can't wait for more improvements

I've noticed this as well. It's making it quite inefficient to Fold at the moment..

Classic Stanford..

The way I see it. The quicker we get through this horrible lot of work units, the quicker we will hopefully get some good ones.

Still, doesn't mean we have to be happy about it

I've switched back to the console clients now as well. The v7 client crashed twice on me and wasn't folding for 10+ hours. Consoles work fine though.
