~ $2500 Rig, What are your thoughts?

So it looks like I'm going to settle for the Obsidian 650D. I really like the exterior. I mean I'd love to have the cooling performance of the Raven RV03 but the looks are just not for me. I think the 650D will do just fine.

Yesterday I added everything up and it looks like everything will be right around $2500. I decided not to go with the VelociRaptor raid 0 set up. I couldn't really justify the cost. Instead I'll just go with 2x WD Black Caviar 2TB in raid 0 and the SSD as a boot drive. Also, I couldn't find an online retailer that has the MSI GTX580 Lightning with the Twin Frozr III. Only versions with the Twin Frozr II. I'll call MSI on Monday.

This particular RAM combination costs close to $600 and is out of stock at the moment:

8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-16000 10-10-10-27 Mushkin Ridgeback

I think the $600 are some kind of mistake. Maybe it's just because it's out of stock at the moment or something ..

I'm trying to find a version that coast maybe about half and still delivers a solid performance.

Yeah Lightning is hard to come by atm, only been able to find it at one place in England surprisingly.

And how can that RAM cost 600? You may want to double check, maybe look at a few other sites that doesn't sound right to me.

Mushkin is good because it's fast and reasonable cheap, $600 is just stupid, if you can only find Ridgebacks for $600 I would suggest a different brand.

EDIT: Have you considered buying direct from Mushkin?

Yeah, I wrote them an email. We'll see if I get an answer tomorrow.

I'd really like to get the ridgebacks for the reasons you mentioned, but also because they work with the Noctua :]

I think TTL managed to get CAS 7 timings out of his 4GB Ridgebacks and on 2000MHz or something.

Just got of the phone with Mushkin. They seem to have had a production problem. Also, the situation in Japan is causing delays. Most of the performance parts are out of stock for another 2-4 weeks. If you were thinking about getting 996953 - 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-16000 10-10-10-27 Ridgeback, you may want to wait. Three will be a faster version available in also about 2-4 weeks.

Can't seem to get a hold of anyone at MSI :/
