hi, been looking round net for a new monitor, i want a 22" 1920x1080 full hd with a GLOSSY screen, the only thing i find in description/specs to do with glossy is bezel, all help well appreciated.

^Was wondering that too. Glossy is really annoying imo, unless you want to keep an eye on the people behind you... o_o'

Only glossy displays that I know of are Apple's, and they only start at 24" I think

hi, thanks for replies, why can't the simple question be answered and not a debate what you all prefer or dislike. a 22" is whats needed or might be able to push next size up due to my pc unit, as in why glossy, i find its better picture quality as matte is so dull and horrible. i have found a few 22" glossy screens but what were not out of stock or discontinued were 1680x1050, cheers anyway

Glossy screens used to make look images brighter on LCD screens...
We've now moved onto LED and IPS, and various other acronyms.
Basically, now you don't need a glossy screen for picture quality.
Glossy screens reflect the light and make the images look a little brighter whereas matte screens absorb more. But since LED backlighting, and latterly IPS screens, the screens are bright enough on their own to avoid needing a glossy screens.

Look at the lg 22 inch IPS224v. I'd personally go the next size up and go for an Iiyama X2377HDS, or as many others use here, the Dell S2340L, or if you can push it, the Dell U2312HM (they're often on offer at a more reasonable price (£130ish))

We don't tend to just answer questions basically on here. We give better advice than that.
Glossy screens have been discontinued for a reason.

Get a nice IPS screen, and you won't be disappointed.

You haven't given enough information in the initial post. I asked what your budget is and you still haven't said.

EDIT: I also agree with James. Get a nice 23 or 24" IPS Panel monitor.

hi, ive already purchased and sent back an LG M2252D-PZ 22" LED IPS, it was nasty, i just hated the colors of it, i play BF3 n BC2 and the colors in them were so horrible, tweaking colours for outside then find i cant see inside buildings n so on, way too much ponsing around to get anything right, i was using an acer 19" P193w which on that colors blew away the ips screen but thats sadly had a fit n not working anymore so at moment i'm using me samsung 40" full hd tv but due to positioning is very orquard, budget, any just limited to size due to my unit, hence a 22" or just push depending on dimensions next size up

Full stops and the paragraph key are your friend, Mr Text Wall :) :P

There is a reason for the lack of these screens, they aren't required, Glossy is old-hat now and i can tell you from experience, nothing short of annoying. Finding a glossy screen isn't the holy grail of colour quality..

What are you after vibrance? Contrast? what? Be specific please, saying ' I want it to look good indoors and outdoors' isn't a fantastic question because I imagine you haven't got your Gamma setup correctly, or contrast...

I play bf3 on an IPS and it looks f***ing gorgeous so you can't just slap a badge on them saying they're crap.

Also if you're used to playing your games on a HDTV, then I can tell you now, no computer screen will be the same in terms of over-saturated colour, or 'vibrance' because they're over emphasised for movies and tv.

You will however get more sharpness and more 'accurate' colour, so it won't look so blown out as the tv.

It's all about intended viewing distance, You're average PC screen distance is around 60cm, not 8 feet... so you shouldn't really be comparing one to the other.

i'm not comparing my tv to the lg monitor i had as i'm using it as a stand in. ok i've gone where i did not want to go but a mate is running same monitor and its sweet, just purchased a new pc unit, Iiyama Prolite G2773HS 27" 120Hz, Sapphire HD 7970 Dual-X
