2012 Competition MADNESS

After reading some posts from people saying that this should be a members only competition, I would just like to say that personally I have not only signed up because of the competition, I have been watching TTL on youtube for a good year now, And after getting a bit fed up of the lack of community on the Toms Hardware forum I thought I would sign up here and I plan to become an active member

Same here, I've been watching TTLCustoms on YouTube for a while now!

I actually did sign up on the forums just for the comp. It's an easy enough forum to lurk as a guest (yay!) and the whole 'you can never get your info cleared' bit is not my style, but this comp was too hard to ignore

My Friday was league of legends and mlp:fim after a 12 hour work day

I obviously meant beer and watching TTL*cough*

My Friday consisted of getting inebriated. Same plans for tonight too.

Gutted that Tom is going to Hadouken, i used to drink with them in Leeds. Top lads (and lass)

Hello, I am a veteran community member. I'm now going to be totally offensive and unwelcoming, therefore purposely hurting my community by turning off possible new people.

Few things for you.

Here is the link to the Craigslist ad with my rig for sale: https://post.craigsl...nage/2956182511

"But that could be anyone's computer for sale, you're probably making this up."

Here's the link to my original build log: http://www.overclock...16/arc-advanced

Notice that it's the same username as this one. Here's the link to my cable management guide on my team's website: http://teamzfz.com/t...ble-management/

Again, notice that the name is Michalius.

That is the picture of my wife's back when she was still in the hospital, one week ago.

Now, I read the rules. I saw that the winners were already chosen, I saw that they must be chosen randomly. My post had nothing to do with begging or somehow trying to get a hand up. That was me, sharing a story with a community that I have since thought about participating in. Going through something like that, almost losing your best friend and wife, is a really really crappy experience. Sharing that with people makes you feel better, getting it off of your chest.

I've yet to post in the OC3D forums because I'm really active in the Tribes: Ascend community (www.teamzfz.com) as the leader of one of the most successful US teams (which I've since had to stop for the time being for the obvious reason). I also spend a lot of time on overclock.net, and Neogaf where I host a thread dedicated to teaching people how to overclock their rigs. My username there is mkenyon. Notice the zfz tag as the avatar for futher connection here: http://www.neogaf.co...ad.php?t=454318

I get that you have over 2000 posts and feel more entitled to something because you've been more active, but that is totally counter to the whole point of the competition. I have been religiously following OC3D.tv for quite a while. One of the things that I do in the other communities I participate in is help people make decisions with buying cases, and TTL is the major place I link to when people have questions on cases, modding, and watercooling. Though I frequent this website a lot, as well as the youtube channel, I never stopped to participate in the community simply because I spent a lot of time on other ones. That means I should be barred from it somehow? You're the equivalent of a 12 year old that is taking his toy home and not letting anyone else play with it. Grow up.

When I read that someone says I have "come up" with a story, after the two most stressful weeks of my life, it's pretty hurtful. I know this is the internet where sometimes people assume you are scum and there are often dishonest claims, but maybe give someone the benefit of the doubt before you say something like that. Thanks for the very warm welcome to a community that I had considered taking part in. I'm sure TTL is really glad that you are helping foster a community on his website with these actions. The prize should certainly only be for you.

Prayers are with your wife mate, Hope she makes a speedy recovery,,,,,, Good luck for the comp and welcome to OC3d

I dont understand why in the US people have to pay for medical treatment,,, any way thats another thread......

To be fair to Nepas though you were just another person amongst the many people posting stories that can come across as "pick me I deserve to win."

After you read so many it's hard to tell whether people are being legit or just telling BS to try and win Tom over.

No one has a problem with non members winning (at least I don't anyway) just people who are obviously coming here and telling a load of BS.

Sorry to hear about your wife though and I wish you and her well and I will apologize because I thought you were just another among the many posting sob stories.

If it was the other way around though and after reading all the others stories and then one like yours appears from someone unkown would you believe it? But then again why post it at all.

My wife just got out of the hospital, broke her back and had spinal fusion surgery.
Sorry to hear that.

... that means I owe a ton of money, plus my wife almost died, so there's that.
Well that is the way US health system works. You have your fate in your hands. You do not pay (pay insufficient) health insuarance and you get into troubles, if something bad happens. Completelly your bussiness. Nobody here is interested how clever or stupid you are in insuarancing your (your wifes) health.

I also just found out that there was a screwup on my federal tax witholdings, and I have to pay the feds a lot as well.
That is your bussiness. Nobody here is interested in your tax problems.

I literally put up my watercooled build on craigslist as well as all sorts of ancillary stuff to help cover the costs a bit
That sounds like a rational decision.

I'm hoping I get some good news from this competition to lift my spirits!
Tens of thousands of another people are hoping too. Your personal misfortune unfortunatelly does not give you bigger chance of winning.

Come on did you really post a picture of a stitched back here? Are you kidding?

This really got too mad IMO.

Tom please could you reveal the winners? I am really worried how far this can go.

Yeah, I don't think anyone's saying that new members aren't welcome... (especially as I'm also new!) ...What I was saying earlier was that I just would prefer it if the winners didn't just sort of hit and run, where they just win the rig and then bugger off.

The winners have already been picked anyway. Just not announced... and I'm 99.99999% sure that TTL did it with a random number generator or something similar.

In the end the winners should'nt get picked manually, but instead randomly like out of a hat. That way its fair for everyone.

That is how it is done, they were picked earlier this week.

Guys, I know that the OC3D forum's aren't exactly best known for their on-topic postings, but for the benefit of keeping this thread in good spirit I dont want to see any remotely off-topic postings. We have a separate subforum for that dontcha kno
