2 PSU's

Hi there chaps...

Has anyone done a 2 PSU setup.

I have followed a guide which is quite simple..

get a 2 ATX extention cables. On one strip all the pins out and connect 7 to 8. The connect 14 on one to 14 on the good atx cable and the same with 15

Then plug in and go.. Easy enough.. and it works, sort of :(

I have the following hardware.. 4 hdds 2xSATA and 2xIDE and 2xCDROMS 1x 6800ULTRA 2xpumps and some fans....

this is all running on a Antec 480w PSU at the mo

so the setup is now this with the 2 psu's

on the Antec True Power I am running the 6800, MB and the 2 pumps and on the 550w Qtec I have the 4 hdds, 2 CDRoms and the fans....

It all powers on OK and boots... but it keeps hanging and I have also had 1 blue screen..

Any ideas or is there a setup that you can go out and buy??

Help....

Sorry I can't help you but be cautious of that Qtec550 heard they're not to great, would hate to see it damage your hardware.

try running the pumps and the fans off the qtec and all the other stuff off the qtec, so u are only guaranteed to put the power from 1 supply into the mobo

i am looking at this guide meself it is simple so u cant have nawsed it up (unless you went to the pobo school of soldering(uses an arc welder for vmods))

looks like my Antec does not like the other PSU and now wont boot up with what I used to have on it.. I have to take my cd roms off to get it to boot.

When I run 3dmark 2001 it now gets about 5 mins into it and then reboots. :(

I am not sure if I have damaged my Antec PSU or not. Cannot see how as there is no power going from one to the other...

puzzeled as to why this is.....

EDIT.. I have ran Super PI and that will run ok even on 8m so I am assuming either there is not enough power for the graphics card now due to a fault or the card is knackered some how...

Going to swap PSU over tomorrow when I finish work....

this is odd... I had OC my PC to 205x11 and have been running it at that for a few hours with no probs until i installed the 2nd PSU and got them both running which is when I ran into problems.

I have set the CPU back to default and all is OK..
