Hi Guys,
Getting ready to upgrade my Rig from q6600 @ 3.2Ghz to an i7 950. I'm hoping to achieve an overclock which will give me 4 Ghz, would really like to get that without raising the Vcore but will have to wait and see
I haven't as yet ordered any memory as I really dont know what speed will best suit a 4 Ghz cpu speed. The m/board I have ordered is the Asus P6x58D-E (yes i'm on a budget
My question really is will I gain anything from going for 2000Mhz memory over say 1600Mhz or will I be wasting money for little gain. Was thinking of going for the 6GB kit of Corsair Dominator Gt's rated to 2000Mhz. I dont know anything about the memory Dividers used on the x58 platform as this will be my first and it would be great if I could get some pointers from you Guys to help with my decision. Also I was hoping to continue using my current PSU which is an Enermax Liberty 720W, but I'm kinda worried that the new CPU will use more power than my q6600. I will also be running 2 HD4870's in crossfire, 2 Samsung 500Gb HDD's in raid 0, A Coolit ECO 240mm watercooler, 1 optical drive/dvd rw and several 120mm case fans, not a mega rig I know but will 720 watts be enough? Thanks in advance for any help & opinions (Punk!).
