1440p Gaming- GTX 760 or HD 7950?

Applies to anything requiring Vram if you want to get so technical. Yes it does apply to higher res. Anything above 1920x1080p would be in the "higher res" catergory... 2560x1440 or 5760x1080p both are more demanding with many more pixels; therefore higher bandwidth is needed to keep up higher settings and mainly higher AA and not choke on minimum frame rate.

it's not like an nvidia card is going to choke to death at 1440p compared to an amd card.

Still perform less.

wouldn't even say that. a 770 has a 256bit bus, which should be plenty for 1440p and performs better than the AMD lineup, so those 2-3 fps the amd cards might gain will not make up for the performance advantage the nvidia cards have atm.
that might change soon, but there isn't even a release date yet for the new amd lineup.

Depends where you look. A 770 is also clocked a lot higher as well. Can't compare stock vs stock because Gpu Boost will just clock the card much higher giving it an advantage. Amd cards have to be manually overclocked.

the 770 beats the 7970ghz which by my knowledge is an overclocked 7970. also once you go wet you'll have to oc manually as well to reach the max performance.
