£1000 budget, what would you buy?

Simple question you have a £1000 budget no need to buy a case, psu, monitors, peripherals, optical drives and WC/cooling equip.

Design your ideal gaming system for that budget... You have to buy;

- MSI mPower Z77 (performance) / Asus Sabertooth Z77 (looks)
- GTX 670 (or HD7970, but i prefer Nvidia )
- 16 GB Patriot Viper 2133 MHz
- 64 GB Samsung Drive + 1 Tb WD Caviar Blue

I live in the Netherlands, pounds are worth more than euros so I gave myself €1100,-

What's the purpose of the rig? For gaming you don't need HT. But, if one of the uses will be folding, the 3770k would be ideal

Also I would get at minimum a 120/128GB SSD.

In reflection of these slightly lower specs then i was expecting lets bump up the budget to £1500...

I agree, though I work with things like PhotoSoup and all that so for me personally this would be a nice set-up. However, if its only for gaming you could always get an i5 3570k and use the remaining 80(?) pounds on an H100/H100I

You can also ditch 8GB RAM and go for a 120GB SSD ;P



Edit; with that extra money I'd just do the set-up I just put but with an extra GTX 670 and a 120GB SSD, an H100i if it fits the budget in pounds
You could also not get a second gpu and get a 3930k on the X79 platform, but if the build is for gaming, I'd rather go with the second GPU ^^

How many monitors?

You can spent well under £1000 and get the same performance as something for £1500 if it's only on one monitor at 1080p.

Use the extra £500 for the new ultra widescreen Dell monitor

If my system isn't enough just change my MSI Twin Frozr 7970 to a Galaxy GTX690. That should cover it.

The 3570K is more than enough cpu power and the Sabertooth is the best motherboard on the planet IMO so can't think of anything I'd want to swap those with.
