Advice on what to upgrade

Evening all, been thinking about upgrading my computer in the new year but not sure what to upgrade. I mostly use my PC for gaming and watching stuff. I only game at 1080p @ 120HZ if that helps too.

My current spec list is -

Intel i5-3570k @ 4.2GHz
16GB Corsair Vengeance
Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H
Nvidia GTX 780
Corsair RM750W
Samsung 128GB mSATA
Samsung EVO 250GB
3x 2TB Seagate Barracuda
Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit
NZXT H440
XSPC CPU Watercooling

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Dario.

For 1080p all you really would need to upgrade is the GPU for a higher consistent framerate. The CPU is more than enough and 16GB of memory is more than good.

As for which GPU don't really know. Volta may come out in Q1 next year. May not but I suspect the Titan model will at least. AMD on the other hand I don't know. I don't think anything but a new Vega chip to replace Polaris in the mid range will come out till end of Q2 at the earliest

Thanks NeverBackDown. I was looking at 1070 but then I seen the 1070ti is out ? Is it worth getting the 1070ti or getting a 1070 and buying a waterblock for it ?

Dario.

I could buy a used 1080 for around the same price as a new 1070ti. I know it wont be getting used to its full potential but would it be worth it ?

I've seen some brand new 1080s that are cheaper than the 1070Tis here in Canada (go figure). I wouldn't hesitate to go used if you get a good price and trust the seller. Put a water block on that baby and OC the snot out of it!

If you can get a warranty with it that you can use? then get the 1080.

EVGA usually I wouldn't buy anything else as they will just pass the blame.
