Xbox announcement

For several reasons :

  • it's ugly. I know it wants to be the all-in-one system for your living room and it probably would fit in that world but I would still like my console to look "the part"
  • I avoid most all-in-one systems simply because there are no upgrade options and usually they are crap
  • would've been nice to have backwards compatibility, but it's not such a big thing for me
  • M$ wants you to pay a fee for borrowing a game from a friend(I'm not talking about buying used games). I mean really? Not that I borrow that many games nowadays but I wouldn't buy that console for that reason alone, on principle. For me that means they are a money-grubbing company and will try to screw you over
I really do hope they show some reasons to buy it at E3, otherwise Sony might start to act too bossy.

Did my previous post screw up the page layout?

tbh I don't really get why all you guys are moaning about it. I'm seeing a lot of you say it isn't even really a "games" console, and? It is not meant to be, it is meant to be a device for the mainstream, for the causal gamer who enjoys fifa and cod, for the family etc etc. It is not meant for hardcore gamers and tbh I think that it does what it is supposed to very nicely. If it comes in at a decent price then it's going to be awesome in my opinion.

Ding ding ding. We've got a winner.
I'm with Seumas on this - y'all have been getting a little too heated about this :)

sony went down that "all-in-one system" road and it didn't work out for them, the funny thing is all most everyone i know who has a ps3 or xbox has a tv and pc/laptop... M$ give me one good reason why i should buy a Xbox one over a PS4?

Sorry you'll have to forgive us. I mean f**k, there we were thinking a games console would be a games console. Not some stupid device you need to talk to.

Microsoft have lost the plot here. They're taking their success with the 360 and trying to control people again. What they do, what they watch, and make them pay for every last bit of it.

Don't get me wrong I don't buy consoles, but the people I know that do buy them to play games on. They already have set top boxes and blu ray and really can't be arsed with talking to them to make them work.

I really see Sony taking this opportunity to do a fatality on M$.

Considering the hardware inside it and the fact that it comes with the Kinect, I think £399.99 is a very reasonable price.

You mean you used it for something other than to tire out your nieces and nephews so the wee gits would collapse and go to sleep?

As I already said, this isn't a games console, and it was never meant to be, it's sole purpose is to be an overall multimedia device.

I feel honored :D

the backward compatibility is the deal breaker. 6-7 years worth of buying games now they are worth nothing. sorry ms i feel like ive wasted all my money... :(

Well this went as i suspected, its been known for a while now that microsoft shifted focus and turned their attention to the living room experience so i saw this coming. I just dont get that there was NO actual gameplay footage, no one on stage playing a game, on top of all the other bad things about it for gaming i think the ps4 is going to have a hell of a good time.

Just keep your 360? its only another hdmi channel to switch around on your remote.

Just watched the GHOST trailer and noticed something classical console only.

ghost.JPG

This is the scene where they run down the building and the first thing i noticed ware the
HUGE low res textures wrapped around simple blocks they allways did in the past as well.
This is purely to make things run smooth just like how consoles allways had the low res textures
pest to make it run decent.
I hope they just went lazy here but my guess is there's to many faces on the building on the left
combined with lighting and shadows that made it reach its limits allready?
Sorry i'm a mapper in my free time so i cant help to nitice this

 what a load of crap. But now I really wish he would've asked "What happens if you do unplug the internet for a week?"

Same here. There has been loads of rumors that were just confirmed today. For me it dosent bother me or effect me directly. Obviously indirectly console ports effect me but the main exclusive games on xbox I have little to no interest in.

What I do not get is why people are trying to make an all in one box for the living room. I mean if you just take the new xbox and my situation. I already have a set top box for my channels, I already have a tv and I already have a smartphone and 2 laptops and a pc in the house. Why would I want this? The only other reason is to play games and tbh the ps4 so far looks like a better option (I probably wont be getting either).

And do not get me started with this hands free remote control for my tv. I mean if I have to say change channel every time I want to change channel or volume up I would kill myself. That would drive me mad. Not to mention it will only recognise american accents so over here in Ireland it will always say sorry cannot understand please repeat. I have voice control on my phone and I never use that and that could come in handy I mean voice text messaging while driving is a good idea but I still do not use it so why would I want to use my voice to control my tv. Not to mention what if someone is just chatting in the background and suddenly my channel changes because the bloody xbox hears a command, obviously you will probably have to say something like xbox channel up or similar and how much of a twat will you look saying that in front of people.

I really do think ms have lost focus here a little. I mean their core market for this device is gamers because they have lots of 360 fans and players who love the machine so why not design something around your main market. Sure they could always have an expansion slot in it for a media plug in device that people could buy if they want that. Sort of like the old ps2 internet adpater plug in thingy.

as i said earlier, ill just sell the games i now use my pc for, and put the money towards a better card, i have some games worth keeping the 360 for,

As far as I know and understand. Gamers preferably PC gamers and tech nuts have always been in favor of the Playstation over the 360, not just in debate but in owning. Yes PC is better quality, but gamers like a good game. And as far as I am concerned PC and Playstation have the best games. The xbox is literally a washed out PC. VERY few exclusives.

PC & PS3/4 FOREVER!!
