Windows 10 upgrade without issues?

Hi all, how many of you have done the upgrade rather than a fresh install, without any subsequent issues? I've got a very fresh 8.1 pro install, if that makes any difference, and upgrading of re-installing saves me valuable time.

Also, does upgrading keep my SSD performance settings (eg I made a policy to have auto backups off)?

i did it from 7 home premium. no issues at all. everything just worked.
Not a huge fan of the start bar but it works although i mostly have to use search to find the apps i actually use, it does find them instantly.

I only needed to reinstall the nvidia drivers and my xonar Xense drivers, it worked fine, still did a clean install after that, windows 7 had been on the system for ages, needed a clean.

Cheers lads! As for the start menu, I'll just buy start10. Awesome app!

Does the update to old that let's you choose not to update drivers work well? It's the only reason I've been waiting.

I've done the upgrade and there are some fairly deep seated permissions and access rights issues for me, didn't show up until recently, but I'll be doing a reinstall at some point I guess.

And by issues I mean, an admin account unable to change access rights on anything in certain folders, can't even take ownership, it's stupid.

That's unacceptable! What folders for example?

I went from W7 Ultimate to 10 Pro and did a reinstal right after. No issues since excluding the internet drivers for me but that's not Windows fault

Couple of Driver glitches (SLI on day one) and I got stuck in a windows repair boot loop which resulted in me having to do a clean install as none of the other options were viable.

Mind you my W7 build was about four years old and full of bloat. Overall for everyone I know aside from me it was a painless experience.

I'm not unhappy that I upgraded - but I can't think of any overwhelming reason I would upgrade from 7 pro if I was to do it again.

*aside from looking pretty

Yeah it's got a little bit better UI but having said that you can easily make Windows 7/8.1 look like Windows 10.

I had a few niggles on day one but after the day 3 update i.e 3 days after it was released not had an issue since.
main rig was fine but my sons amd apu pc was the one with issues i.e no display driver for 3 days no network driver etc.
I had to go to amds webpage to get motherboard and display drivers but they were buggy after day 3 windows and amd had fixed it amd basically released an apu specific driver instead of there generic one :D

System32/Drivers is the main one I've been having a fight with. It's 'owned' by Trusted Installer and I'm ***ked if I can find a way to override the damn thing. Gave up and will be re-installing or trying some other stuff at a later date.

I also noted my install of Elite needs to *always* be launched as Admin because for whatever reason, that's how it thinks that was installed on Windows 7.. it's like.. yes, I was and still am a system admin, this is BS!?!

I'm fairly sure it has something to do with the whole upgrading a local user thing, but it never grants you proper superuser permissions so you're kind of trapped out of a large portion of the system.. at least that's how it feels..
