Sorry for the long post, but I'd like to be as much accurate as possible. Sorry also for my awful english.
The long introduction:
For a gaming workstation, I have connected speakers from a sound system (to be used when watching movies/series), speakers from the monitor (to be used when working, as the sound system is playing music or radio) and a headphone with mic (to be used when gaming, TS, voip etc...)
With my old mobo, all worked fine. It had an integrated audio with azalia chipset (6 connectors), and the driver was able to configure manually each connector (once the autoconfig option was disabled). So I could configure my desired device connector as ouput, and left the rest of them as imput, so just one device sounded(i.e. when playing games, the connector for the monitor speakers was manually set to line-in, and the headphones to... headphones. So noone at home was disturbed)
Now, I have built a new workstation. Its mobo includes an audio chipset too, similar to the previous one. However, the new version of the driver (and control pannel) doesnt allow to disable the autoconfig option, so the last device plugged is the one which works, and I can´t change it from the control pannel.
I've also tried to install the previous version with worked in the former workstation. However, it doesn't work, as it looks to be too old for the new chipset.
I've also googled the problem, but can't find any solution (or third party software to do that)
The question:
To improve the audio quality and to bypass that issue, I want to purchase a dedicated sound card.
My requirements are easy: gamined at least 4 connectors (headphones, its mic, monitor speakers and sound system 2.1 jack) and, most important, the software/driver must let you configure manually each connector, to be able to disable (or turn as input line, same effect) anyone at your will.
I found out 2 options, Creative x-fi series and Asus Xsonar series.
Can anyone who owns it advice, please?
