Quick News

Toms hardware got hold of the schematics for the new PCI-SIG 12-pin PCIe connector(Confirmed as real), that may be used in some upcoming GPUs(Unconfirmed).

Can't see why this would even be a thing since the pinout is essentially two 6 pin connectors glued together. Shouldn't the industry be more focused on efficiency and reduce power demand?
On a side note, imagine a dual Vega 64 operating with 2 of them :D

I guess space efficiency(theres only 2 current carrying pairs per 6 pin, then a sense pin and one useless pin, three current carrying pairs and two sense pins in an 8-pin, whereas the full 6 current carrying pairs and no sense pins needed in this single 12 pin connector) and unifying the power port on devices that would otherwise require more than a single 8-pin

I like the 12pin change. Makes cable management better. And if it becomes standard, you might see more manufacturers making products like the EVGA Power connector so you can hide the cables completely.

Its hard to do that right now, because not all cards require the same connections, so reference is the only safe bet to make something like that.

MS drop the 12 month Xbox Live Gold membership from their store.
"At this time, Xbox has decided to remove the 12 months Xbox Live Gold SKU from the Microsoft online Store. Customers can still sign up for a one month or three month Xbox Live Gold subscription online through the Microsoft Store."

Alongside them cancelling all non X consoles and only producing the One S.

With Project xCloud being bundled with the subscription, they could be increasing the price of the membership and want to stop people from getting the 12 year membership at a lower discount once it gets merged with all their services under perhaps a different subscription, and force people to pay more once they get next gen.

If they do this it will anger a lot of gamers. Most Xbox players probably just play Xbox multiplayer games and that's it. Forcing them to pay more for no benefit ain't gonna fly.

Time will tell what they plan on doing.

Thought this was worth sharing, Disgusting behaviour on MSI's part that GamersNexus exposes, TechTeamGB has also come forward and exposed this practise, I wonder how many more vendors have offered money to YouTube tech reviewers to alter or not publish reviews.

Yeah, as that article points out, not only were most of the RMA's are with PowerColor, but it was the Red Devil SKU specifically accounting for the significant majority of RMA's across the whole stack. If you take that SKU out they have lower RMA rates than NVidia, surprised that Red Devil ever made it to manufacture with almost 1 in 6 failing.

It was probably due to poor contact between the cold plate and die, AMD's partners seem to be making a habit of making really good coolers but having terrible contact on the actual die, The Radeon VII being a prime example, Made by Coolermaster I think ? And that had terrible contact with the die, Gamers Nexus did a video on it showing the majority of the die has zero contact with the cooler.

Radeon Adrenaline 20.8.1 has released.

Support For

  • Hyper Scape™
  • Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition for PC
  • Grounded™RS-338
    • The Epic preset on the Radeon™ RX 5700 XT offers up to 9% better FPS performance playing Grounded with Radeon™ Software Adrenalin 2020 edition 20.8.1 versus the Radeon™ Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.7.2.
Fixed Issues

  • With Radeon FreeSync enabled, task switching to another display or application may intermittently cause the desktop refresh rate to be locked to an arbitrary interval causing stuttering.
  • Streaming and recording features are not working or are failing to enable on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics products in Windows® 7 system configurations.
  • Radeon Software may experience an application crash or hang when waking from sleep after joining the AMD User Experience program.
  • DOOM™ Eternal may experience a very dark or dim screen when changing V-Sync settings in game with HDR enabled.
  • Hot plugging a powered off HDMI display and then powering on the display, may intermittently cause a system crash or hang.
  • Enabling Instant Replay may rarely cause a system hang or TDR on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics products.
  • Compatibility Advisor may show an “Unable to get requirements” error message when opened. Users will need to perform a factory reset of settings in Radeon Software for this fix to take effect.
Known Issues

  • With Radeon FreeSync enabled on Radeon RX 5000 series system configurations, task switching to another display or application may cause the display to flicker for a few moments.
  • Brightness flickering may be experienced on some VP9 video content playback through applications or web browsers on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics product system configurations.
  • Enhanced Sync may cause a black screen to occur when enabled on some games and system configurations. Any users who may be experiencing issues with Enhanced Sync enabled should disable it as a temporary workaround.
  • Performance Metrics Overlay and the Performance Tuning tab incorrectly report higher than expected idle clock speeds on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products. Performance and power consumption are not impacted by this incorrect reporting.
  • With HDR enabled, Windows® desktop may experience flickering, and performing a task switch while in a game may cause colors to become washed out or over saturated.
  • Audio may experience instability when connected through an Audio Video Receiver via HDMI® on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics products
  • YouTube playback may become frozen with Microsoft® Edge player and Chrome™ when played on an extended display on some AMD Ryzen™ 7 3000 series and AMD Ryzen™ 4000 series APU system configurations.
  • Modifying the HDMI Scaling slider may cause FPS to become locked to 30.
  • AMD is investigating isolated reports of intermittent system hangs while exiting system sleep on some AMD Ryzen™ 3000 Series Mobile Processors with Radeon™ Graphics.
  • Some games may exhibit stutter intermittently during gameplay on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics products.
  • AMD will continue to monitor and investigate any new reports of black screen or system hang issues during extended periods of gameplay closely. Users are encouraged to use the new Bug Reporting Tool for any issues they may encounter.
Footnotes
