Quick News

Untapped demographics I guess is the simple answer, don't play it myself but it was so popular even here in the UK that Switch's were selling for £500+ on ebay after its launch because they were impossible to get hold of.

Apparently Embracer group has aquired several game studios including 4A games and also confirmed a 4th Metro is on its way.

Doesn't surprise me. I think I remember seeing something last year about THQ Nordic acquiring a lot of Deep Silver IP.

Also not surprised about a fourth Metro as well, sales keep increasing game on game so it's safe bank now. I just hope it doesn't become yet another open world shooter with crafting and collectables like the vast majority of games these days. Exodus is as close to that as I'd be willing to accept.

IBM launches Power10 CPU, jumping from 14nm to 7nm increasing efficiency by 3x and quadrupling AES engines per core for ultimate security with future proofing in mind for future security instruction sets.

Other highlight is 20x performance in AI workloads and a new technology called memory inception allowing "clusters of physical memory to be shared across a pool of systems. Each system in the pool can access all of the memory, and memory clusters can be scaled up to petabytes in size."

More info here.

What you missed it?

On the floor in one of the rooms was a book with Metro 2034 on the front cover.

Oh and apparently the XBsex is going to be £599 and the PS4 £499.

I saw the books in Last Light and Exodus haha. Dimitry and 4A said 2034 isn't going to get a game as 2034's story doesn't have enough substance to make it worth it. 2035 is a novelization of Last Light and Exodus won't be getting one.

And not surprised on those prices, although the PS5's price does seem to be a reduction since everything up to now said it was going to be expensive as hell

TBH £500 is very expensive for a console.

The 3DO launched around that, and didn't sell at all well.

Then again this is today I suppose. What other choice do people have?

That said, on a technical standpoint they both sound like terrific value. Especially given that lower tier mid range GPUs are really lame. A RX 580/590 is still the norm at a high price, given how old it is now.

If PC gaming doesn't get a big boost at the lower end it could be bad. People will just get the consoles instead.

Tbf when the 3DO launched £500 was equivalent to about £1000 today, I think the new pricing point is based on the relatively strong sales of the mid-console refreshes, particularly the XboneX vs its base models.

But, with the XSeS coming besides the XSeX, it seems like Microsoft may have cornered off the low-cost/traditional price console market for a little while this generation, I assume Sony will keep filling that space with the PS4Pro instead and just aim for aggressive PS5 price cuts, probably just cutting the digital edition PS5 price aggressively on the assumption it will pay back later in store revenue.

Sorry, forgot to reply to the Metro bit.

IMO? Exodus was very boring. Too much waffle, unskippable and I am glad I chose story mode because tbh? that is about as much as it was.

The action in the valley area was very good (even though it turns out I basically shouldn't have done any because it screwed over my ending ffs) and I quite liked the bit in the shelter where you were looking for the Asian bird's picture. That reminded me of Fallout, only with much more atmosphere and presence. Unlike any Fallout game since FO3.

But. The action just wasn't there. And when you are totally clucking for it because it waffles for 30 mins between scenes? and then punishes you for taking that action? then it isn't really much of a game any more.

I walked into loads of scenes with my gun holstered and only shot at those who shot at me. So I was awful peeved to get to the end and realise I was being smited for that.

If the next one is anything like Exodus? I won't bother. Last Light was the ultimate game in the series for me. It was fantastic.

Maybe they should skip 2034 if that is the case, and just make their own action packed follow on? that doesn't follow the rules or the book. It would be a much better game. I mean, how the F can you give someone such an incredible sniper rifle and if they use it screw them over at the end? you can't snipe mutants it is only good against humans.

Just to point out that it isn't all negative. Like I said, the valley scene was awesome and I approve of the titties and botties bit.

I thought the waffling would be right up your alley being british ;)

The 3090 is the titan in my opinion. Its easier to name. They had issues before with all the naming, and its only so many times you can call it Titan RTX.

Titan
Titan black
Titan X
Titan Xp
Titan RTX

Just makes things far easier for them.

You could be right we don't really know just yet, They could always call it Titan-A for Ampere.

On a side note, Facebook will require all new Oculus users to sign in using their Facebook account with existing Oculus users having to switch by 2023, Bringing several security and privacy concerns up.

And this is why i never wanted to own a Oculus, because it's facebook, and facebook does what facebook does, force it on you.

Indeed, As long as Steam remains the way it is it's fine, Heck you can make a fake account and just use it for SteamVR and Steam wouldn't give a toss, Outside of your IP address no real identifiable info about you as long as you don't buy anything, Facebook though is reminding me of a dystopian company more and more as time goes on.

Hell. F'ing. No. Always said I'd never buy Oculus since it's Facebook owned and this further solidifies my stance. But the problem is that the general public will eat it up for convenience and the 'safety' that comes with a well known brand.
Honestly, the more and more I look at things now, I just think of them as prolefeed.
