I changed the rez on my screen (Benq FP92W, native rez 1440x900, 19" widescreen) to 1152x864 to run oblivion...problem is every time i change zones it says "nonpreset mode!"...what the heck does this mean lol

just got my new 19" benq widescreen monitor (native rez 1440x900), although i have run my laptop screen at all sorts of whacky rezzes, i am not sure if it is the same for desktop screens. is it safe to run it at say 1024x768 stretched, for games like oblivion that need to be scaled down a bit...
