"nonpreset mode!" what does it mean?

I changed the rez on my screen (Benq FP92W, native rez 1440x900, 19" widescreen) to 1152x864 to run oblivion...problem is every time i change zones it says "nonpreset mode!"...what the heck does this mean lol

It's not the preset mode for the monitor..as in not the native res?

I would assume that...but it does not say it with 1024x768...odd

Maybe the monitor just doesn't know how to display that res.. ?

Maybe its a resolution that you haven't "configured" yet. For example: Maybe you haven't set the brightness/contrast and screen position up?

Is it trying to do it at something like 75/80hzlles and u`r monitor only likes 60 - pffft.

What`s saying it anyway ? The monitor or the game ?

the monitor is saying it, it is weird because for example right after that i set the monitor to 1280x1024 (i had not used that rez before) and it did not say it...and yet every time i set it to 1152x864 it says it.

I am mainly just curious about what it means...and if it is safe to leave it on that rez
