The sub is 100% faulty dude. at 100% on the sub you should have neibours 3 doors down moaning.

I plugged my z5500's in when I first got them with one cable to the green plug on my then on board sound, it was still mental loud. if his isnt making him happy then its deffo not right.

This is probably stupid to put this here, but had a very similar problem with a mislabelled 3.5mm jack, hence the bass was trying to deal with a treble input. Just check the wiring at the sound card i.e the sub/centre jack is actually going into the sub/centre socket.

There is something peculiar about that external USB sound card:

Code:
Connectivity: • Microphone in (1/8" mini jack)

• Stereo Line in (1/8" mini jack)

• Headphone out (1/8" mini jack)

• Left/Right Speaker out (2x RCA jacks)

• Rear-Left/Rear-Right out (1/8" mini jack)

• Center/Subwoofer out (1/8" mini jack)

• Optical out (TOSLINK)

So in 5.1 config it looks like you need to use the 2xRCA for f-left/f-right and the normal stereo jacks for r-left/r-right and center/sub. Is this right?

OMG! :) the Code tag...

damn, if that's the case then something is definitely wrong. This sucks, i'll have to pay shipping on this big ass thing when i just bought it, ugh!

I just emailed logitech complaining that the sub barely seems to be moving at all, even when it is maxxed out so hopefully I hear back from them. I really hope they will send me one that plays the "punch in the face" bass that i've heard about

also

are ALL levels at max on the pod?

thats not what its there for, you wanna define which level you want at max, for my speakers I have sub at max and the rest at medium, so whilst the other speakers are at normal, the sub is at "double" the setting the others are at.

done a bass test on youtube?

I keep the other channel levels at 3 bars and the sub at full. I've run a bass test on youtube, for which I have to crank the volume to 3/4 for it to be loud at all

If you have all the cables in the right place its faulty.

This is a time buying from some where like scan who send a courier for rma's comes in handy :(

Very cool news,

Although my speaker set has gotten MUCH better sounding in the last week, I still need to max out the subwoofer and crank the volume to half or over to get the punchy bass, that's far from house rattling. I got in touch with logitech and they had this to say:

Dear Adrien,

Thank you for contacting Logitech Technical Support.

I already submitted an electronic return label (ERL) request for you in order to further proceed with the replacement process.

I would then require you to pack the defective Z 5500 in a box and paste the label on top of the box.

Once you have done so, UPS will attempt to pick up your package for three consecutive business days. After the third attempt, the return label will be returned to UPS.

Please note that the validity of the label will be available for 10 days only.

Appears as though I won't pay for shipping after all. Good news, lets just hope that I get a set that sounds the way it's supposed to. I don't have much to compare my set to but from the reviews I read (including the one on OC3D) I'm missing something. Thanks for the input and the suggestion!

I'll update once I get the new set!

I don't mean to threadjack but I notice that I can only adjust my "center" speakers when it is in PLII MOVIE or PLII MUSIC mode. All other modes do nothing. Also. When I adjust the "surround" option there is no difference at all in volume no matter which mode I am in.

I have my speakers connected via the 3 colored cables. Is there a problem with my CPU or are my pods defective? Thanks!

PS I also notice that my bass and volume are pretty weak. The bass is at 100% and the center is also at 100%. I can listen to music and movies with the pod turned up to 50% and it isn't really super loud.

I have the Z 5500s. I'll be checking to see how your replacement set does. I've had good luck with mine. The sub doesn't shake the whole house but you for sure feel it in the next room.... :)

So I recently moved into a new house, when I set up my system I too noticed my system not being as loud as before, I soon realized it was because there was too much load the outlet. Maybe its not working on max power because its not getting enough power? I didnt even think this was possible but my house is around 95 years old and the circuitry is pretty outdated.

So I got my electronic return label from logitech just today so I am going to get a ride to the nearest UPS store and send this bad boy away. Sucks that it'll be gone for about 20 or so days but if it comes back the way it's supposed to sound than i'll be happy. If not, then I guess I was just expecting too much from them lol. I'll keep you guys posted.

I hope It'll turn out fine! If not it would be a huge waste of money for you which would definitely suck =/

Really hope they come back working 100% for you dude. I love mine to bits and and has been said they should definitely be shaking walls at top volume (the crappy partition walls in my house start going wobbly from 70-80% volume).

So i just got my speakers back guys...took 2 weeks to go to Phoenix, Arizona from Ontario, Canada. Logitech paid for everything so it wasn't even a hassle. Hooked them up, plugged them in, tested the channels and then played a song.....ah hell yea that's what I was expecting. I'm a happy man. It was kind of like....OOOOHHH so THAT's what it's supposed to sound like haha. Yea definitely a good purchase now that this is how they sound.

Just wanted to update the issue I know a lot of people showed some interest and thank you for all your input, you guys ROCK!
