Hi all,

apologies in advance on the incoming questions. they may be common knowledge here but i am new to this game and thought it best to ask the more experienced for their help.

here goes. i have an alienware machine i bought 4 years ago. decided to upgrade it but alienware stated id be better off buying a new system from them. on consulting few friends and collegues at work i decided it would be cheaper in the long run for me to upgrade the system myself. deciding only to upgrade my motherboard, cpu and the ram.

i also have a xfx gtx 260 to add to the mix when all is up and running. i also have an enermax 600w psu (if thats of any interest.)

heres what i bought:

cpu: AMD Phenom X4 9950 2.6GHz Black Edition Socket AM2+ 125W 4MB L2 Cache (512KBx4) Retail Boxed Processor

Mobo:Asus M3N-HT Deluxe/Mempipe Nforce 780a SLI Socket AM2+ onboard VGA HDMI audio ATX Motherboard

ram:OCZ 4GB Kit (2x2GB) DDR2 1066MHz/PC2-8500 Reaper Memory HPC Edition Dual Channel

now for the quetioning part, i have alienwares own liquid cooling system already in my rig, the problem is the mounting used for the heatsink onto the cpu is not compatible with the new motherboard. I.e. my previous motherboard had holes in the mobo, and two screws held the heatsink onto the cpu though the two holes and onto a back plate behind the mobo.

i still have the back plate, but the new mobo doenst have holes in it for the screws to go through. is there any kit i can use out there that can help me instal the heatsink and cooling kit to the new motherboard?

again appreciate the help.

thanks

id rather not buy a complete cooling kit seeing as the one i already have is still doing what is required of it.

i wasnt aware that these clips/mounts are that hard to find...you mention a custom built bracket, any pointers as to where i go to look ?

thanks again.

anyone out there that can shed some further light on this please?

as a side note i have looked high and low and the only thing i think could possibly do the trick is the Zalman ZM-CS2 clip support....having said that its just from what i have seen on the picture..anyone out there able to advise (in layman/total nooby) terms on how to go about making the heatsink on the alienware cooling system fit the mounting/bracket of an ASUS M3N-HT deluxe motherboard?
