You can download Windows 10 here

So now I've finally got around to sitting on my home computer...

The Win10 checker is saying my system is incompatible because of some crappy Air Display WDDM device (which I can't for the life of me remove?!?!)

If I download this, can I just run an upgrade and ignore the checker?

I tried getting it to re-run but it hasn't changed it's mind, nor has it decided to actually update itself :S (the check date on the report was from the 31st)

I didn't even bother using the checker and upgraded without much trouble. If the tool is able to upgrade your OS, I doubt you'll have any problems.

you're not making any sense!!

The thing in my taskbar say no

If I go to the link and download the media creator that'l just bypass that crap right?

Yes it bypasses it. again I recommend you create a usb drive not just download and "upgrade"

Most probably it's an audio driver that needs to be uninstalled or onboard graphics or your current graphics card...
You should uninstall your nvidia drivers before upgrading

So you can do an upgrade without losing data using that tool yeah?

Yeah, I used the tool and I've still got all of my data. Everything is where it should be from what I can tell. No major issues to report (touch wood).

I have no idea why Thelosouvlakia is recommending that you stay away from the tool.

Because some times the checker can be wrong, at least from my experience with the one for win8 or the one for win7

I didn't even bother using the checker. I just ran the Media Creation Tool and upgraded to Win 10. All of my data is in place and the issues I faced were very minor.

As yassarikhan786 said SuB just use the tool no matter what I did my laptop would not update so I used the tool downloaded an ISO to C:/Downloads and ran the setup exe straight from there and it automatically ran as an upgrade and my system so far is flawless everything is working as it should so give it a go

Nice one, thanks for clarifying chaps, still going to hold off a bit longer, but wanted to ensure I can when I want to. As for 'uninstall blah blah'
I already said what the issues is, Air Display, WDDM

I can't remove the virtual device and I cannot get rid of the sodding software it's gone screwy, looks like it's blocking other people too, hopefully once I actually do the Win10 Upgrade (I'm not starting fresh, too invested in this install) it should just go away :)

I did the update fine the Keycode went through fine on the upgrade but i tried to do a Clean install and it said the Keycode is wrong.

I have a huge Virtual memory it's 16.0 GB is that to do with the page file and should i disable the page file.

Yup, that's the page file. I've moved mine to a secondary drive. The page file is not really necessary if you have a sufficient amount of RAM (8GB +) or you are really good at conserving its usage.

you can chose to enter the code later during install.
mine seemed to be using my windows 7 key when it was installed.
So you could try to enter that "or whatever os u had" when in windows. if that wont activate remember that it did take me about 12 hours to get activated, others were instant. but just keep clicking activate some times its a matter of how many clicks you do rather than the time between clicks.

if you eventually decide that key wont activate try the one you got with jelly bean. you can easily click change product key when in windows on the same screen as you activate on.

(right click this pc, then go to properties) then you see the activatin status at the bottom and a little link you can click to get to the activation page and product key entry page.

edit:
as for page file. even though you dont need a huge ammount of page file. its a good idea to have some set even if its a few 100MB as some older apps will refuze to work without the page file being activated evven though they never used it at all.
this was true all the way up to 8.1 so i doubt its changed for 10 as it really is the apps not the os.

Thanks for that, I have set up a custom page file limit also i still have some files from Windows 7 still showing up but i guess they will show up cause of the upgrade and the option i pick when i did it.

If you do a custom install now it WILL say your key is invalid a mate and I compared keys after looking them up with a keyfinder and all the keys for home installs are identical, and if you try and do the registration it will say the key has already been used so there must be a fix that Microsoft are going to have to introduce so people can do format re installs

I was looking on a different forum and someone posted there that if you do a clean install you don't need to re enter the keycode since it's all ready been converted to Windows 10 unless i'm miss reading it
