Here's what I did..
I downloaded the ISO when it became available, skipped the waiting game and jumped into W10.. wasn't genuine- because I didn't upgrade first- soooo I took my other ssd, installed windows 7 again, downloaded/installed the SP1, few other updates for windows, and the tool. Then I did this in CMD(as an admin, must be admin or get an error) slmgr.vbs /ato. (including the period after ato, get an error otherwise) and wait for a window to pop up, just keep hitting next as there's about 6 windows that pop up after it. What this does is let your key be converted into a W10 key so it's genuine. After doing that, I took the ISO from earlier and updated windows 7 to windows 10. On this new install, It was automatically activated and genuine. So I unplugged the ssd, plugged in the orignal drive, booted and boom... that drive also now became genuine W10
So to recap- to save you time and trouble, download only SP1, the major update needed which means a few updates needed to be downloaded first to get to 3035583(I think thats the name) then enter CMD and then ISO, upgrade, should be done
