You can download Windows 10 here

NBD try this matey

Step 1: Navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder and delete everything in this folder. Don’t worry, it wont ruin your system.

Step 2: Now run Command Prompt utility in Administrator mode. Simply search for ‘cmd’ from Start Menu/Screen, right click, and then click on run as administrator.

Step 3: Type this command and press enter: wuauclt.exe /updatenow.

it worked for me and I was on win 7 ultimate 64

I just tried something that I came across that might help some.

open notepad and paste this

Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
MsgBox ConvertToKey(WshShell.RegRead("HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\DigitalProductId"))

Function ConvertToKey(Key)
Const KeyOffset = 52
i = 28
Chars = "BCDFGHJKMPQRTVWXY2346789"
Do
Cur = 0
x = 14
Do
Cur = Cur * 256
Cur = Key(x + KeyOffset) + Cur
Key(x + KeyOffset) = (Cur \ 24) And 255
Cur = Cur Mod 24
x = x -1
Loop While x >= 0
i = i -1
KeyOutput = Mid(Chars, Cur + 1, 1) & KeyOutput
If (((29 - i) Mod 6) = 0) And (i <> -1) Then
i = i -1
KeyOutput = "-" & KeyOutput
End If
Loop While i >= 0
ConvertToKey = KeyOutput
End Function

Then save the file by choosing Save as, then select all files and name the file something like productkey.vbs.

once saved, just open it and it should give you the product key.

However I saw the last 4 digits of my key before I activated Windows and it did not match the key that showed up when I ran this VBS above. So does windows asign a temporary key when you upgrade but dont activate?

I'll give it a go in a few.. updating all the other devices around me to 10.. super annoying because they got to reserve and I didn't:(

Also did you download the mediacreator tool and then do that? Or did all that without it?

Well damn, i decided to do a clean install on windows 10, but the activation server blocked my key, so i went back to windows 7, and it doesn't work there anymore either, it was a old student license on which i used the phone for to activate on this mobo, but i guess they stopped me from doing that. sigh.

That just means buying windows 10 soon.

You didn't even reserve it and it worked? Wth... Why will it not work for me!:cussing:
I did reserve it, months ago, I had the logo on my task bar until this morning.

What happened to me.

Tried the upgrade - Failed "Corsair Link caused an incompatibility error".

Uninstalled Corsair Link and reboot - Upgrade Options vanished.

Ran update service from control panel - found a few loose updates, installed them and reboot.

Still no upgrade options.

Googled why the win10 upgrade icon had vanished - check that the GWX (GetWindows10 app) folder is present in the system32 folder and that update KB2976978 was installed for windows (8.1) or KB2952664 for Win 7.

After checking that then reboot (lots of rebooting, all hail SSDs)

Once rebooted still nothing, so I tried to manually install GWX.exe - fail!

Next I got bored then fed up and just went to Microsoft Windows 10 download center and chose 64bit option, download and hit install.

Nearly there, first upgrade attempt failed, so a bit more google work required - Answer, uninstall display drivers and un plug all USB flash drives. Hey presto after 10 minutes and a long stint on a blank screen (bit of panic) Windows 8.1 Pro N upgraded to WinX. Then reboot and install the latest NVIDIA drivers.

This has been my ordeal for today, hope this helps or sheds some light to others. ;)

It didn't work for me I think, after entering the string into CMD nothing output in CMD or anything in windows changed.

Thanks for the help Wraith, but I didn't reserve mine.. I couldn't because nothing has ever popped up for me even with the updates installed. Just so frustrating.
Wraith, in the GWX folder, were the updates needed in that folder? Because mine are not there, but they are installed somewhere

Don't worry dude, it'll roll out more mainstream in a couple of days, still it's not been plain sailing like MS claimed.

Mine won't activate either and the store is broken.

Edit. Disconnected my wireless, reconnected, now I'm activated. Cool beans.

That fixed the store too. Seems it thought it wasn't connected.

I wasn't able to reserve either. I think I'll be waiting a bit before installing.

Yeah but I want it now! Need to do a clean install. My W7 is bugged down because I have switched ssds in the past and just mirrored the OS to the new one and while everything works normal, it's slightly slower than before. Been waiting for w10 and a clean install since the reservation thing started

I cba faffing around with it atm so I'll do it over the weekend. I've also mirrored my OS, so maybe that has something to do with us not getting the prompt?

So I've got Win 8.1 Pro (not the N version) and have just downloaded the Win 10 Pro (again, not the N) ISO, but have not reserved my copy due to something else. Want to do a clean install of Win 10. Bit confused by this thread as to whether or not I can or need to upgrade first and choose 'clean install' (if I can??) from there and keep the ISO as a backup disc for whenever I want to do a clean install again?

Same here. I'm not gonna worry about it for the moment.

Well i am:p

If you aren't on W10, use the mediacreator tool and run it and towards the end you can opt for a clean install

Right I have now finally got a clean install of Windows 10 Pro activated on my main gaming pc, and it was a complete PITA to do but I have finally done it and it's finally activated.

It has took 12 hours, nearly 4 hours on the phone to Microsoft which provided no help at all, and around 10 clean installs of Windows 8/8.1 and 10 and then the upgrades to Windows 10 etc.

These are the steps that eventually got it to work and activate, so if you are having issues trying to get a clean install to activate, try this and it should work although it is long winded and a complete PITA!!!

1: Install Windows 7/8/8.1

2: Install all updates to the point there is none left

3: Upgrade Windows 8 to Windows 8.1

4: Install the Windows 10 Upgrade so that you have Windows 10 installed

5: Ensure you are logged in to a Microsoft Live Account for logging in etc

6: Ensure Windows 10 is activated

7: Download Windows 10 Media Creator Tool

8: Create the ISO file for the version of Windows 10 that is installed IE Home, Pro etc

9: Download Magic Jelly Bean, install it and run it to obtain the Windows 10 key.

10: Burn the ISO to DVD or create a USB Installer using Rufus

11: Carry out a clean install of Windows 10 using the ISO you created.

12: Ensure that when you install it, that you use the key you get from Magic Jelly Bean

13: Ensure once the install is complete that you are logged in using your Windows Live login details

14: Verify your Live account on the machine

15: Check the activation status to ensure you are fully activated

16: Store the key from Magic Jelly Bean somewhere safe as you will need that in the future for any further clean installs if, it does not pick it up from your live account.

I hope this helps people as if I had known this earlier today I could have been sat playing Elite abit today, instead of faffing around trying to get a clean install to activate.

Time to start the fresh install on my Lan/Media pc.
