XSPC X20 750 pump noise

Salmonidae

So I very recently installed my whole loop including this res and everything is working fine. However yesterday evening I noticed a strange vibrating sound coming from the res/pump. It is not a constant noise but sort of builds up, dies away and then repeats. Does anyone have any idea what this is/how to solve?

Its probably not fitted properly

or

it may be air in the loop

Cheers for quick reply. I have tried so much shaking and repowering etc to try and get air out and can't seem to get any more out. How could it not be fitted properly? Would that be down to screws too tight/not tight enough?

How is it mounted? It could be a resonance with some part of your case for example. Have you tried some sort of anti-vibration mounts?

I just took all the screws out so the res was only touching my hands and the noise continue.

This noise is starting to drive me nuts, it was so blissfully quiet when first installed a few days ago :(

It could be something wrong with the pump. My original unit made a loud humming noise. I sent it back to the retailer who confirmed the problem and sent out a new one.
Try to get some air out first though to rule that out, if you've tried shaking try tipping the case.

It's not particularly loud just not consistent which is what worries me. Having to re do the loop would be the worst... :(

Worst comes to worst, try draining/refilling your loop, I guess.
If that doesn't solve it go with the above and try and RMA it.

Ill see how it is in a couple of days then yeah I guess I refill.....

Update: I just topped up res and completely re bled any remaining air, spinning the case around and all sorts, but sound remains. Still just on off, really no other explanation other than its just broken?

Just curious, how have you powered the pump, a molex straight from the power supply or something else?

Id double check its not vibration from the res and the case. Rather than from inside the res itself.

Thats what you need to work out.

i had the same problem it was quite for 2 weeks the started to make a loud buzzing noise i sent it back to be replaced the pump was faulty, i got the XSPC X20 750v4 the latest model in its place

Is it the 1st version of the 750pump/res or the V2?
The first versions had a rather poor impeller that could quite easily off centre itself. Version 2 is much better.
Remember when you fill a loop never run the pump dry.
