Xpsc EX240 cross-flow worries

Hey peeps, I've ordered one of these rads to go with a alphacool monsta rad (240mm) to cool a 2500k (4.4ghz) and a 7970.

Im being told its a single pass rad and that I might not get as good temps as if I went with the normal Ex240.

Is that the case? Should I return it for the normal version (its still in its box)?

Thanks in advance :D

It should still do a reasonable job of cooling - and for the hardware you're trying to cool it'll be fine.

Up to you if you want to return it - but I probably wouldn't bother.

My main worry is that I want my fans running super quiet, If its only 1-2 degrees difference that would be fine .. but any more and I'd have to change it.

There doesnt seem to be much info out there tbh :S

TBH mate the only reason youd buy that rad is if you NEED the crossflow - ie: where the barbs are to make your rig tidier.

FYI: There's this pretty old thread on bit-tech about this. It also links to some good further reading
material. link.

It's a bit tricky to judge how valid that info still is nowadays, but it's mostly basic thermodynamics
and fluid dynamics, which hasn't really changed since 2005.

Interestingly, this debate seems to have been raging in the car enthusiast world for decades
