XP64 Driver question

Just got hold of 10 XP64 Pro Licenses from work as no1 else has a 64 PC, how n00b of them, ANYWAY, I'm having issues finding a driver for my IP Wireless modem.

Anyone know where I can get hold of 64 drivers for stuff? I thought XP drivers would work fine, but I was wrong so far.

Doh still nothing on that, looks like a router for me then.

Thinking of getting a Linksys or Cisco 800 series. Want one that will enable me to use VPN and host a webserver from home. We shall see what happens I guess.

Ok too the easy route and bought a router. mmm strange that sounds...

XP64 is an awsome OS, if only the Cats im using worked properly :(

In what way is it awesome (I'm not saying its not as I've never used it but am just wondering) is it much quicker with a 64bit cpu?

I ran the early Beta XP64 and it was faster than standard XP BUT and it was a big but.

The true potential will only be seen once the software catches up and the software developers start writing mainstream packages that utilise the 64 bit processors.

And as boardy is pointing out simple drivers can cause major problems ad not all manufacturers have written and released 64 bit drivers to support there hardware.:@

My driver was a big issue mainly because it's not a widely used modem. It's a special IP Wireless modem so I can go anywhere around Reading and have broadband net access. A simple router sorted it. As for the ATI drivers I found they did actually work, I just didn't have .NET installed cos I never use it lol. My fault on that one but im using DNA modded ones now which are sweet.

The OS is much faster than XP, Access loads in about 1-3 seconds as apposed to about 5-10 seconds on my FX55. Things just act smoother and everything is just simply smoother.

Is it true that things like TMPGENC and DVD Creators dont run on win64?

Apart from benching the two most used programs on my computer today.

Nope, complete rubbish as far as I can tell at present.

I'm running a 64bit version of DVD-Shrink atm and it's blisteringly fast. Coppied an entire DVD in 7min 30 last night, off a clean install of Windows 64.

Mav if you email me TMPGENC or a link of where to get it from, I'll check it out for you, but as far as I've got so far, everything runs fine. A 32 bit app in Task Manager has *32 next to it, meaning its running the 32 bit section of the OS. Pretty powerfull imo.

No mate not yet. I will do once I have everything how I like it in windows, games etc installed and all that goobins. Will let you know tho, it won't be fair as Im using modded drivers in XP64 but still get an idea.

One really odd thing I've found. My audio drivers are actually better in XP64 than they are in XP32.

It's really strange and hard to believe but the sound is so much better with the 64bit drivers. Bass comes out much louder and all the channels on the 5.1 are correctly assigned. The 64 driver also allows you to alter each individual speaker volume so you can tune the listening position down to perfection (as long as you never move lol). Just seems the output is boosted somehow.

Really odd.
